Hoping it picks up a bit... As it seemed to get off to a pretty dull start with the first show.
But ill be watching as allways... Havnt missed one in years Although the star in a reasonably priced car bit gives me time to go do the washing up....
Love the proper trip style ones they do, vietnam , america, india....

The Bentley part was just amazing. A pure spectacle to see such a leviathan being thrown around a rally stage (and not genty either!)
THAT'S what I love about progammes like this - something so completely out of context and completely out of reach of most of us laid out in a great piece of footage. Utterly brilliant automotive entertainment.
As for the Colin McRae programme - just like the Bonneville two parter, I had my heart in my mouth and a big lump in my throat. Television like this makes paying a TV license so worthwhile. Superb.

*sigh* How can you possibly be disgruntled about watching Top Gear and seeing a Supercar review? It was the fastest car to ever lap their track! Not to mention it is really very special - and not made by a mainstream keyring company.
What were you expecting to see?
Personally I tune in for a light hearted amusing show loosely based on cars that contains amazing camerawork and blokes dicking about. Beats the hell out of Come Britains Got X Factor on the Jungle Ice.

I'm so glad TG seems to be back to its old self. I just hope it carries on next week......
The documentary on Colin Mcrae was brilliant, i think i even shed a tear watching some of the old footage, but what the hell Hoy was trying to prove is still a mystery to me.

If you take it for what it is, a car based entertainment program, then I thought it was all very good. The Pagani film was everything I've come to expect from a 'powertest', lots of arty shots of a very expensive and exciting car. For what is worth, I loved the sound it made, the muffled rumble mixing it with the chirping wastegates, nomnom. The news was a time filler, but thats what it was always about. GOOD NEWS! Dacia etcetc... The Bentley was mindblowing, what a machine! If its good enough for Mr May, then its good enough for me. StarInAReasonablyPricedCar was good, I had no idea who the dude was, but he was heroic on the track in far from favourable conditions. And finally Jezza's P45 bit was just straight comedy and theres nowt wrong with that. Just shows what you can get through a BIVA/SVA too All in all, stop your moaning folks as we have it pretty darn good if we're honest...

Still slow compared to this; Well in that case, they might as well cancel the show! I'm surprised anyone bothers with Santa Pod any more because there's always someone that's gone faster. Somewhere. It's entertainment, it's about cars, I don't get why people still have to criticise? OK, it's far fetched, staged and ridiculous in places....but THAT'S TV. Get over it.

Pretty sure it was the Caparo T1 that destroyed the record too, but because it couldn't get over a speed bump it was disallowed. Hey ho, I'd still take the Huayra over the Ultima or the Caparo any day Can't wait for next Sunday so I can laugh at things that other people will moan about. it makes it that much more fun. ^ not aimed specifically at you marinanut, but it's always the same in TopGear threads.

Beats the hell out of Come Britains Got X Factor on the Jungle Ice. ^^ THIS It is what it is. A motoring based ENTERTAINMENT show. A slot that it fills (imho) admirably The days of William Woolard are long gone (thankfully). If you want something more serious then perhaps you should be watching documentaries or tos extremely dull (often american) wannabe car reviews that are all over YouTube

That Bentley ... suuuuppperrrrrbbbbb ..... And yes, I was laughing like a loon at Jezza's P45 ......
James and Jezza were on the Steve Wright show last yr, they were saying that they can't go back to the 'old style' Top Gear as 'modern cars' are all built to better standards and tend to come with lots more gear as standard. So its got to be more of an 'entertainment' type show.

As a Glaswegian, I roared with laughter at Clarkson's bemused face and, "No. Sorry, I didn't understand a word of that." to Duncan Bannatyne.
It's not a car show. It's a laugh and I enjoy it.

Actually dusted off the old telly to watch TG last night. Probably will watch it at work this week as I'm on nights. Missed the McRae show but will catch it on iplayer (it was on BBC wasn't it?).

Glad TG's back: I like abit of a laugh on a Sunday.
Caught the McRae programme on iPlayer, and I'll admit it brought a lump to my throat.
Well done BBC2!

Constructive Criticism is a good thing though. And I think people who have critasised have explained fairly well their reasons. Its only going to help them create a better show next time round.... If they just drove round and round the track in a car all day and everyone said how amazing it was, They would continue on that theme... As it makes them money... IMHO As I said with my post. I still love top gear, I'm an avid follower of it. Its Amazingly good evening viewing... But i do think they need to rethink it a little

This happens every time top gear is mentioned but my 2p worth is always what other people have said, its entertainment and thats that.
I think its always been a bit staged, its just what with cameras getting better, HD tv, big tellies etc its harder to hide, i think theyve given up trying anyway because people know they do it.
As has been said, better than a lot of drivel on telly which is considered good tv, maybe its slated because it doesnt fit the politically correct twee mould that all the middle class range rover driving types like.
I'm just glad its still going, theres nothing out there quite like it.

Still slow compared to this; Can it get over a sleeping policeman though? Them be the rules! lol Well, Yes. Ultima tend to drive their car to these tests, do their thing, then drive it home. That's deserving of respect. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but there's something going on if it hasn't been featured. Anyway, did enjoy the show.
