getting wax off black plastic trim ??

must be a repost so sorry but iv had the problem again today .. there must be a good way of getting the wax off the black plastic preferably with stuff around the house or don't cost a bomb ...so what you got ? teach me

Pressure washer works pretty well. Failing that, a stiff brush and washing up liquid will shift it.

See I had quite good luck with claybar, it seemed to shift it very well indeed.

Take it slow and don't let it get too warm.

Cheers , what's claybar ? Also i get the problem when the cars all clean and shiny so ideally don't want to pressure wash is or mess it up , thanks got any ideas , once and for all I want to sort it out , iv been fighting with it 20 years

Try an rubber eraser the type you would have had a school it works and costs naff all

May sound wierd but Peanut butter works if you have any

Smooth peanut butter works well

As does a decent trim dressing if used correctly if you don't just wipe it on and actually work it into the plastics it will pull the wax out easily

cheers chaps , I'm going to have to try peanut butter tomorrow , I just have to , I shall get some funny looks from the naibors

il try the rubber thing as well as got loads here , i would of thought it would leave its own marks but il try anything once

Yep - Boiled linseed oil is about £4 a bottle from B+Q.
Wipe it on and walk away - no effort!

Make sure you use boiled linseed oil though, normal linseed oil will leave it sticky. (Boiled stuff has extra additives in it, so apparently it doesn't work to get the normal stuff and boil it!)

rite then , iv got some now how do i use it ? do i stick it on and leave it ? will its stay wet ? do i buff it off or even leave for a bit them buff it ? at the mo it seems a bit slimy cheers d

just done my roof rack.is has a plastic coating , duno how it will look in the morning and is still a little slimy but looks great .

Use the smallest amount you can on a soft rag - wipe it over, leave a couple of minutes and then just give is a gentle wipe to remove any excess. Do the whole car in minutes.
