exported?broken for parts?scrapped? what are you getting at nick? I think what he is getting at is the fact that the car is virtually unique in this country, extremely rare abroad and that breaking it for "parts" wouldnt earn you tuppence ha'penny. The fact that a workshop was broken into and the thieves managed to remove a whole car suggests that they KNEW there was a car there to be taken. This leads us to the logical conclusion that either A: The car has been weighed in for scrap or B: The car is tucked up safely somewhere where, when the heat has subsided, it will probably make a star turn on a racing track where there is great kudos in "racing" a vehicle that is perceived to be rare and/or unique. Not that anybody is suggesting such things, like. It was probably joy riders to p****d to walk home..

Mind you It didnt stop that rare mint Datsun and that Yank estate going around the oval and,IIRC , that fellas ( Nigel Bickle?)ultra rare 60s J saloon ended up being found, after being stolen to race, purely because there was too much heat over it. I'm wondering if the racers of said mint Datsun/Yank estate ever got prosecuted? Some how i doubt it. Hey, a fine and a suspended for handling stolen goods may be a price worth paying to some just for the chance to bit that lil bit different, or summat.

hopefully if theres enough publicity that if it has been stolen it mite turn up somewhere abandoned.
i lost a cortina a few years ago, so i know what its like to have a car stolen, where it ended up it doesnt realy matter, scum of the earth regardless of what happend to it.
i also race, and have some fairly old and differnt cars, but ive paid honest money for them and 99% of racers do, its that tiny percent that means everyone gets slated.
and as for the punishment, sadly thats a police/courts issue, but in my view if there caught they should be taken to one side and shot.

your ideas right, and modern cars it could be done fairly easily, but as for old cars realisticly its never policeable, a car dragged out of a barn would become unraceable.
the likes of ebay and people willing to buy parts cheap without question means theres always a market for people who are willing to steal from others, cars, tools, electricals, its a sad reality of the country we live in. this is more of an issue than the tiny minority of stolen cars that get raced.
i agree something needs to be done, i for one wouldnt deal with someone i didnt trust or belive was selling me a genuine car.

Why wouldn't a car dragged from a barn be race able? If it's legit, the v5 can be applied for by the owner and as long as it's not reported stolen, then they would get it, yes it may add alittle bit to the cost of the car and abit of inconvenience BUT if it stops cars being nicked to race, then I really don't see the problem with that myself? It would also stop the banger community from being blamed all the time when a car goes missing.

if the banger community posted pictures and offerd every single car on open view to the entire world before it was raced, people would still blame them! in the scheme of cars stolen, the ones that get raced it probabaly doesnt register.
go get at backstreet polish bloke whos cutting cars up to post them home, ebay mike whos got a garage and pinches cars to supply his hardcore porn habbit, or gypo joe whos weighing um on the backhand because hes no fixed abode.
the above make up a greater % than racers yet don't get slated whenever a wheel trim falls of a car.

Everyone should have their eyes open. None of us benefit from having thieves in our hobby.
