So, the wheels are starting to get some attention before the car is back on the road. This is what they started off like I'm halfway through one now, I've only cut it back and polished the rim once, it'll get done a few times more with finer wire wool then with a cloth.

Not a great day today. As well as all the drama with the 5a, it turned out the tyre with the nail was FUBAR. It had been run completly flat and had melted the inside of it. So we went back to the garage to get the "old" wheels with good Yokohamas and we had them fitted and balanced on the new wheels. They are slightly narrower than the ones on the new wheels at 205s, so I'll put the 215s on the back and 205s on the front. It just means the old wheels at now missing one tyre. After that, things started to get better, so this afternoon we put the nosecone and headlamp panel on, the door card on, the number plates on, did some headlamp wiring, painted the rear OS suspension/brakes and a few other things. I have also discovered a water leak and its coming from the most difficult place to get to. Under the inlet manifold, behind the alternator, basically between the starter motor and the block. Most annoyingly, its one of the few pipes i used sealant on  . I got the manifold brace off and managed to put some sealant on it, but I doubt it will help much. It may be a job for K-Seal once the system is flushed though a few times and the anti freeze is put in. Oh, and the MOT is now booked for Monday  The wheels are now pretty much finished. I have given them all a cut back and fine polish, just 1 needs polishing, but its on the car so it'll be done at a later date. This is the one I've just finished

Today, I polished the main body of the car, fitted the rear wheels, cleaned the interior and glass, flushed the coolant system a few times, cleaned the wheels arch liners, polished the exhaust tip and cleaned the engine bay. I also put the boot liner back in and fitted Renault Clio boot struts. Normally they are too strong for an SS1, but these could no longer lift the clio bootlid, so are perfect for the SS1. When I checked the lights for MOT and I found nothing happened when you use the headlamp flash with the lights off. It meant I had to fit the little lights back on the nose cone and re wire them into the loom. It was a bit of a faff, but its done now and they work perfectly (flash when the lights are off, do nothing when they are on) What came out of the cooling system  Newly polished exhaust tip :w  And some pictures of it after a day cleaning and polishing

Thanks, its just got back from the Scimitar Sporting Weekend where its gear lever snapped. I spent about 3 hours dropping the gear linkage out and replacing the lever. I put it on the rolling road where it produced 163.8 bhp and won most suprising bhp output of the weekend and it also won best 5a in the concourse

Small update. The SS1 is now on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-Scimitar-SS1-Turbo-Fast-Convertible-NO-RESERVE-/121165245286?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c3602eb66The 5a went to Curbs as above, where the bloody gearstick snapped right down at the bottom. i spent about 5 hours with the car on stands and managed to swap itmfor another from the auto jumble . After that drama, it won concourse and I put it on the rolling road and it got 163.8 BHP. It won an award for most suprising output of the weekend. And the Coupe now looks very different after some progress: Body off Stripped the chassis. It had quite a lot of welding done Then painted with 2K epoxy mastic Dash gauges have cleaned up The axle has been refurbed. All new brakes, seals etc. just needs the diff cover cleaning All the suspension painted First bit gone back on the chassis These beauties arrived today and the chassis will hopefully be built up this week

Thanks, the progress is going to slow down a bit (hopefully not too much) as I'm starting back at school next Thursday and I've run out of monies. I'll be starting the full rebuild on the glorious 2.6 litre straight six engine soon. Just need to save up for all the gaskets, bearings, rings and machining. Good luck with the MOT. I really don't want to sell the Ti, but its funding the coupe. It drives faultlessly and its mega quick. I got some lap times in at Curborough and was around 5 seconds faster than most the Ferrari club on a 70.87s lap. That's how good these cars are when set up well

Oh, well that's a good enough reason to take the CVH out and swap it for the Nissan CA18 ET unit
