my brother in law has had his Mini stolen yesterday from the Kingshurst area of Birmingham in broad daylight :-( It would appear there is a lot of this going on at the moment around Birmingham so people need to aware !! www.miniworld.co.uk/news/364-classic-mini-owners-warned-to-be-vigilantPlease keep your eyes out for the car , the reg is G953 FBF , the car is a British racing green cooper lookalike and is a little cosmetically challenged but all in all a solid car , as he is only 20 claiming on the insurance is not really a viable option so he wants it back :-(

Claiming on the insurance not viable? What do you mean?

AS the owner is only 20 , he really dosent want to jepordise his no claims bonus where possible as he already pays over £1000 insurance for tpft on a classic policy . His insurance is likley to rocket in price if he has to claim for theft

if he doesn't report it within a set time then any claim will be thrown out

If the police recover it, he's going to have to claim as the recovery fee's will probably be a fair whack.

That's only if he wants the car back right? If it's stolen and smashed up and the police recover it don't you have the option of leaving it there and they just crush it after so long? *ducks and hides from the vitriolic mini owners*

In the case of this mini and many classics you're sadly right. I meant more in general with insurance I think the police are used to collecting smash/burntout/joyriden cars and unless your insurer makes an effort (ie. you've told them) to collect the vehicle and pay any fees, it will end up as beantins. For the owners sake I'd hope he gets it back in one piece.

sadly i think it is more likely the car has been broken by now or it will appear as a project/barnfind on a new id in the future :-(
