I've been pondering this for a while, as I have probs getting a jack under the seat/capri, and for minor jobs like oil changes, it seems a pain to jack the volvo up. I've plastic equivalents to metals ramps now (kinda like US Rhino ramps) crop up on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Car-Ramps-3-ton-Low-Clearance-Wide-/400422494629?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item5d3b0a61a5But maybe just some simple caravan levelling chocks might be good enough? I did have some of the CJ Auto's adjustable ones, but I sold them, as I didn't really use them and didn't often need THAT much lift! I had to post this I found as well when looking at ramps!!!

Park on a block of wood/brick and slide the jack under or buy a low threshold jack (then use axle stands). Never been an issue for me. Actually I'd never get any of my cars up those ramps!
edit: Also you can never have it too far up! The more room to work under the car the better surely?

If needed I use two jacks and put the wheels on two milk crates

I do the block of wood thing with a low jack which is ok on the capri... Wheni had the e30 i used to drive it up on the curb on one side, them get the jack under, same as i have to with the seat!
Thats why i liked the idea of the plastic ramps - oil change in mins with not jacking!
Lol, i agree you can never have too much hright, but when it takes 1/2 hour to wind the ramps up you start thinking it's not worth it!

I'd never get up them! Bent the front valance on my old Capri with some metal ramps haha, love it! Being the opposite of slammed has its advantages. Todays job is to replace some of the holes in the chassis with actual metal.

I use these little "extenders" to lessen the climb-angle. I got them when I had the S Type because the ramps were too steep.

The extenders look good, but those ramps still don't look very easy to get on and quite narrow

I've had about 3 or 4 sets of ramps that size over the last 20 years, and had everything from Minis to Frogeye Scorps on 'em, they're easy enough Sarkie. The block is there just to stop the ramp skidding on the stones at initial approach time. As far as the width goes, I just line up the ramp with the middle of the car tyre if it's a wide one (widest was my 997 Carrera 4S).
The Jag in the pic is my X Type V6 auto AWD, officially the easiest car ever to get on ramps - stick it in D, take foot off brake, and the car just climbs up, no throttle required.
I've defo had my Capris up on a set or two.
