For the first time ever I pre bought our show tickets (its the tenth time we've been and the second I've actually had to pay for them!) Woke up this morning to see the snow coming down hard, but ever the hardy Dubbers we got in our climate controlled Passat and drove over to Sandown for the show! The first thing we saw as we pulled in was perfect for the weather. A flat four powered Snow Trac Also out the front was a line up from the SSVC, in between the Splits was this unusual DKW van. I like it, could probably do with something more of an interior (I'm sure a basic R'n'R bed could be built in the back) but it made a nice change from ratty Dubs. We queued up before they let the shivering masses in, first stop was the Porsche engined Herbie, one of the actual film cars, they were getting charity donations to have your photo taken inside. Having a 2½yr old who is Herbie mad we had to! ;D

Nice photos Steve, and good to see so many people braved the weather! Wondering if that 411 on the BRMs is ex-Keefy?

I was indeed there, armed with my camera, and a super wide angle lense because Volksworld is pretty much the worst show I've ever been to to take photos at, not only is it very cramped (because it is very popular) but the displays inside all have masses of bunting in front of them. Great to see Mr.Speedman and family (and friend), also bumped into Bryn (as he was trying to steal a lens from me) and Gotwood. Very pleased to have a chat to Mr.Burrows too as it has been far too long since I saw him last. Anyway photos : www.flickr.com/photos/retroscenemag/sets/72157633066188771/Bryn's car of the show Volksworld 2013 by RetroSceneMag, on Flickr Super low plus accessories, must be a VW show Volksworld 2013 by RetroSceneMag, on Flickr Interesting wheel choice Volksworld 2013 by RetroSceneMag, on Flickr Just spot on in every way Volksworld 2013 by RetroSceneMag, on Flickr Already shared this on The Low Set (I'm not going to shut up about it) because of the awesome BMX + Car cross over of it all Volksworld 2013 by RetroSceneMag, on Flickr Racey Beetles Volksworld 2013 by RetroSceneMag, on Flickr T2D bring the lows!! Great pics , thanks for taking one of my van mate ! After a three and a half hour drive up in the snow and then bottoming out in the muddy bottom car park ( big thanks to the guy who gave me a push whoever you are )and pulling the front bumper off on one side ( cable ties to the rescue ! ) it was looking rather the worse for wear . Fantastic pics and it was great to bump into HW and Bryn for a good chat ( roll on ' The Gathering ' ! )

Volksworld 2013 by RetroSceneMag, on Flickr Was good to see you too sir. That Rometsch was nice, I think I prefer them stock and shiny. Having been to Camberg a few years ago I have witnessed coachbuilt VW overload. There were a few on display. Absolute stunners. When I bought my camper, the chap had this one in his barn, body held together with plates, interior in a tatty pile inside. It was destined for a full resto at a crazy cost.

It was new to me. Real "in yer face" colour with the yellow KCs worked so well. Nice touch to put it on a sandpit too! ;D

Car of the show? Mr Hotwire, you're bad, bad man ;D It was good to see you guys, shame we didn't cross paths Speedman, hope all is well. Car of the show for me was the rusty, Rommetsch (sp?) Lawrence. The guy who owns it has big plans and has worked very hard to get it where it is today. It will genuinely have something for everybody by the time it's done. Another high point was talking to the Schley brothers about Lightning Bug and their exploits. Genuinely my favourite Volksworld show yet. You really do get out what you put in ;D

Was a great weekend. My mate had the Dark Grey and Black Crew Cab Splitty on display downstairs. So I was there every morning wiping the dust off! Great show! If anyone has any pics of his Crew cab I would appreciate them! ~Lee

I painted that red bug (10th pic down from the top). Tom the owner was really up-against it doing the refit and had to make some compromises with how it wanted it in order to get to the show on time. I will let him know that you have chosen to post this picture he will be well chuffed

Looks like a great amount of variety there. I have been meaning to attend this show over the years. One day I need to own a RazorEdge Karmann Ghia .
