Hey guys I just picked my self up a set of 13x5.5 Ford Globe wheels off a cortina, I am planning to put them on my escort. they have had a home re spray job and it has runs on it, I want to mirror polish the whole face and paint, the slotted bits Gold, just wondring what would be the best way to to go about polishing them my self. I have stripped most of the paint off just to see what they were like under the paint. Thanks,

I'd use a sanding block with various grades of wet n dry the scotch bright then some good qaulity polishing wax,
Avoid anythink round as it will pit/gouge the face and look curse word.
Shiney but curse word.
Or get it in a wheel turning lathe and diamond cut them.

today i thought i would give sanding them a go so i jacked up the back of my car and let it idel in 2nd ger while the rim was on, i only used 2 grades of sandpaper a course one and fine one, obviously i will go from 250 up to 1800 when i do them properly but this was just to see if it would work. and luckily enough it didn't turn out too bad altho it is going to take a while and be a bit of hard work to do all 5 of them but the finished product should look awesome!

the spokes are going to be the annoying part because at lest with the flat surfaces i can just hold the sandpaper there when the car is jacked up and idling in 1st,

Black.
Gold will just turn black with brake dust.

I'd go for black mate, less hassle and will look great next to the polished metal. I've always found acrylic paint to be excellent on alloys. I painted a set which had black gloss centres with a polished rim and the finish was lovely. Very hard wearing I've found too.
