cant lock espace with key fob

my other half has just bought a t reg renault espace cant lock it with key fobs have changed batterys and nothing any ideas

When you changed the battery what did the inside of the key phob look like. Any corrosion to clean off or any broken solder joints? You may need to recode the phob if its been flat for a very long time or if the buttons have been pressed lots of times whilst the phob was out of range.

It's spelled fob.

Use the key to lock it?
I can't remember the specific Reno reprogrammed routine but I'm sure someone on google knows?

just checked and its not a fob its part of key I'm getting a red led on key when button pressed but nothing on car and cant lock on key as the only key barrell on door is fubered

Hmm.. New lock barrel and matching key off eBay sounds like a good idea at this point.
If the key wont resync, It sounds like the either the key is not transmitting a signal, so the key is broke, or the car is not receiving and the car is broke. Might be worth finding a garage with a remote key tester to see if your key is transmitting first.

so it unlocks with the fob ? if it does it probably needs re-programing to the car ?
