This was previously owned by a Volkswagen specialist (Volksgear, see stickered up pic) for a good number of years so has been maintained pretty well, it was then left standing after they got a newer shape caddy.
A local lad then bought it and him and his dad did most of the work on it, few patches of welding etc, but found he couldnt get insured on it for what he wanted to pay, so i got it off him having had a few in the past.
Did a few jobs for the test, changed a few bulbs and cleane earths, replaced both front springs with lowering ones (said 20mm, they were cheaper than stock ones), as one was previously snapped and mot'd it, used it on and off since then.
MOT until 17th january 2014, i just put 6 months tax on it but will be cashing it in before then end of the month, can tax it for you if you wish, or do a deal on whats left.
its a 1.6 diesel, it done 180k according to the clocks, wuldnt think it as its runs spot on and has been very reliable, suppose it nothing for an old vw diesel engine. It does little smoke on start up and abit rough for a few seconds (typical ol diesel) but clears and runs fine quickly, i would drive it anywhere happily.
has a 5 speed gearbox fitted, not sure what box it is, but the car is surprising nippy for an old 1.6d
body work is ok, its a used truck so don't expect mint, it is not, looks to have some filler in drivers side b piller and passenger side wing is just an old one i threw on.
paint is ok, needs a good polish as can see where stickers were, ive polished once and they are hard to see, so a few more polishes and they will be complete invisible.
its had welding underneath but is now solid, bed is decent and tailgate is good, but needs the handle(rest of mechanism is there and works), i fitted a lock so tailgate does open and close.
nice interior blue from a mk1 jetta, blue carpet (proper carpet, not the usual plastic mat), the bulkhead has been carpeted too, looks like jbl speakers in the doors and a cheap cd player fitted.
got nearly half a tank of fuel in it.
had a recent exhaust on it
It would benefit from new bushes fitting to the gear mechanism (about £20) as it is worn and sloppy.
It has fittings for load cover along the sides
horns on a switch
Needs front lower balljoint replacing as its developed some play, ive ordered one so will be done before auction ends.
could be a cool car, just needs slamming and could roll as it for that old school look, only really selling as i have an old bmw for a daily and my beetle project is now finished and ready for the road.
currently on ebay > www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230967492510?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
but after £1000 for it and located in sheffield.
