Hi chaps, very regretfully my TR6 is now offered for sale
It's a CP model, so the famed '150bhp' version. How much extra power it has over a CR variant is debatable, though it does have the benefit of being tax free. With 84,000 miles on the clock, it's bodily sound, with a decent chassis and certainly will not need any welding anytime soon. The current MoT runs until June, though a fresh test is booked for the end of May.
The interior is decent, although some time spent fettling the carpets would improve matters. The old seats with knackered foams and diaphragms were replaced with some much better versions. The dashboard and surround are both in very good condition, while the car has a woodrim Moto-Lita wheel fitted currently, alongside a fabulously period Alba ACR-5 radio.
The car has had a new battery and the original radiator recored in the last year or so, while I also had TRGB fettle the mechanicals to get it running well. This included balancing the butterflies, plus wiring in a relay to the fuel pump so it gets the full voltage required to work to the best of it's ability. It pulls really well and sounds great through the stainless steel exhaust. I've also got a bespoke indoor car cover (c£250) that will go with the car if the price is met.
The car was regularly written about in Classic Car Weekly during my time there, and I'm now doing the same in my new role on Classics Monthly, so the history of my time with the car has been reasonably well documented in that regard. I also have a folder of MoTs, old tax discs and bills that cover the last ten years or so. A V888 form via the DVLA also dredged up some interesting information listing the owners from new in May 1971.
The car isn't perfect however - small niggles include the hood not fitting correctly flush with the tops of the windows. Panel fit/alignment isn't great in all areas either, although often was the case from the factory anyway. Although wired for overdrive, the car currently has a straight four-speeder fitted, which has served me well throughout. I do have the original (in need of refurbishment) A-type overdrive 'box separately however, which could potentially go with the car at additional cost. The seam along the rear deck/wing interface has cracked a little lately, so that would need redoing ideally.
All in all, it is a good solid TR6 that has the potential for the new owner to just jump in and go without much fuss, or easily serve as a user/improver type of job. With additional outlay, it could become a really great car, with an accompanying hike in value. With the weather starting to improve, it still turns heads out and about with the roof down.
Bearing in mind the condition of the car, I firmly believe it would make a great first time TR for someone. As mentioned, it isn't concours, but then I'm not looking for £15-20k either. I'm asking £9750, but definitely open to offers. The car is based in Bath currently

I've attached a few pics here, more are obviously available on request, although a proper viewing is best.
