Trying to sort out measurements for getting a set of steels banded, but keep finding different answers everywhere! Looking at 15x8 et25. Now in my mind, that means a backspacing of more or less 125mm (5in). But putting the measurements into this www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp, gives a backspacing of 140mm? So any help would be appreciated, as i'm confused! lol Cheers Jon

Looks like they're including the thickness of the wheel and lip in the backspace calculation - wheel width goes by the bead seat.

Are you having the wheels banded both sides? Normally just the outside is banded and the backspace won't be affected. You'd just notify the bander, whoever it is, of how wide a band you want fitting. Yes, the offset will change, but the back space won't unless you band both sides or re-cenre the wheel

jrevillug, so does that mean the backspacing is 125 or 140 then? lol MrSpeedy, getting the centres moved as well. as need to alter the backspacing (fitting 8s to the front of a mk1 golf) basically, I know 8J et25 fits, but struggling to work out the backspacing

Draw it on a piece of paper - measure the overall width of the wheels now (not the between the bead seats width). Then add on the number of inches required to band them to 8". From that you will have the overall width of the banded wheel. Draw a line down in the centre - that's 0 ofset, measure 25mm toward the front and you'll have et25, draw another line. measure from this line to the back of the wheel and you'll have the backspace you'll need to create an et 25 wheel. Just make sure that whoever builds the wheel knows that you have calculated the backspace from the overall width of the wheel, not the bead seat.

^^^annoyed I didn't think about that! I love drawing things up to see if they work! lol
another question, is the number given, e.g. 15x5.5, is that the overall width? or the bead to bead?
