03? *boo hiss* *tomato's lobbed*
Well, everything has potential right? And its got chrome, so that makes it sorta retro. maybe.
even if its rubbish. I love my rubbish though <3
Here it is - a 2003 1.4L 16V Rover 45 Impression S3, shiny and new back in 2010... with 156'000 miles.
Top spec model with all the bells and whistles, not that it all works, but still...
Totally original and un-touched with a comprehensive service history. Picked it up at auction for £800 with 6 months tax and 8 months MOT. Not exactly the bargain of the century, but I liked it and didn't know why and felt it deserved better that to be sent to a breakers yard.
Meshed the grille like a chav, them proceeded to ruin it in every way possible. Over the following months it chewed through four gearboxes, two engines and two head gaskets. Yet I soldiered on, not fully knowing why I hadn't scrapped it and bought a golf or something...
Did more stuff, looked ok
Had a brief fling with a Rover 820 Vitesse Sport. fast, handled great, lush ride quality, dump valve and a stainless catback so it went bwaaah *ptschhhh*
but GOD was it dull!
looked back at the little 45, had a sad, and completely lost the plot. sold the vitesse, had a few engine mods done for a few extra horses and noises, chewed another gearbox, got coilovers and banded steelies. Almost a grand dissapeared from my bank account...
Then suddenly stance, ish
Just ticking past 178k, 18'000 since the last gearbox.
and this happened.
yay blown diff bearings and a split CV boot...
so 04/05/13 gearbox number 6 goes in, this time from a metro GTi. it sort of fits and might work.
and since the box is coming out, in goes a new clutch. when in Rome
so then I lowered it more because that fixes everything
which resulted in warped suspension turrets
so then I lowered it a bit more. I don't learn.
this has resulted in tie rods making their own chassis notch (picture to come), the exhaust getting pulled off by monstrous A33 catseyes, further gearbox leakage,
and I've been working on my interior. its almost done!
my knob is pretty hench.
got bored, so photoshopped some proper retro colours.
beige and gloss black are winning, but ford roman bronze caught my eye in halfrauds the other day!
remind me to resize my pictures next time
Hate/love/suggestions all welcome!
