Just doing a bit of research for the time being, but it's hard to get much of an answer with only a bit of mild googling. What I'd like to know, is how complicated is it to get a cam regrind, if your cam's never been done (ie: nobody's ever done one for your specific engine) I'd be looking at getting the base circle reduced, to give an effective 1.5mm extra lift (or thereabouts) but I've got no idea of how much to expect to pay, will they be ok with just the one cam, or do they sometimes need a "donor" cam to chop up first to test for hardness thickness/etc? Any info is greatly appreciated! Have a pic of a knackered vw camshaft as payment!

I've had cams done by Autosprint in Birmingham before for about £90.
Very reasonable, friendly and knowledgeable.
Also had a Ford Crossflow grind fine on a Skoda cam so you can swap and change.
Give him a ring for a chat.

If they haven't done one for that engine before you usually have to send them one FOC to do a test run on to see how much they can regrind it by.

Auto sprint knock me up a set of 290 duration high lift cams for my toyota 4A-FE engine, with only one set did it for a good price too think it was around the £90 and the turnaround was good too. Unfortnately i hed a set of custom shims made by arrow precision to my spec (shims were amazing) and being hardened steel they ate through the original soft cast cams although the chap at auto-sprint did warn me that might happen as he thought they were very soft. (also said he never wanted to see another set of 4A-FE cams ever again!)
