I love those cars, shame Opel didn't make a rebadged version for us landlubbers in Europe. Don't know how much you had to grind to get that weld looking like that, but as a finished repair it looks great for a first try. Why'd you weld up the trim holes? Going for no trim or are you going to attach the trim using glue later? done a fair bit of grinding then touching up the weld but was only an hours work or so.... to be honest i'm not a fan of trim etc like a smooth look, also it had already been took off , the ones on the sills had caused water to get in the sills and had gone crusty where they attach the ones on the doors had let water into the door bottoms but luckily only surface rust

Sounds like you're well on the way to getting all the bits together for the Saab conversion, Nice one!! I'll be keeping a close eye for any updates. Some NG900's rust nicely on the front inner wings, behind the struts. The wheel arch liner rubs against the metal panel, then moisture does it's bit and then, rust!! So you should be able to pick up one for it's running gear pretty cheaply.

Know exactly what you mean, my car is blossoming around all the trim holes too. Wondering how I'll go about solving that... Glue maybe, but I'm not sure it'll hold. Not being a trim fan sure saves you some headscratching
