so I recently joined the forum and thought I would share my project with you guys I am skimming over it as there is just so much and so many things and don't want to bore you all with it but basicly almost everything is new or good used . so I bought the car 18 months ago as a non runner. so I low loaderd it back to mine and me and my dad started work on it this is how it looked when I got it

I was told by the previous owner that all it needed was a patch on the o\s floor pan and the spark plug thread on number 4 was stripped and that was it so I thought how hard could it be so I sorted the spark plug thread by useing a thread tool and sorted some wiring and fired it up. and it sounded like a bag of spanners the engine was completely shot so at that point I decided to strip the kit off and check for rust this is what I found
battrey tray
both inner and outer sills
the patch on the o/s floor pan
also had to do jacking points both sides
as you can imagine that took me and my dad quite a while to do as it was just evenings when and where we can
so after the rot was sorted I could get on and sort the engine out
empty engine bay
so with the engine out I decided to paint my engine bay out in my garage
painted engine bay
when I stripped the engine I found everything was shot I suspect the oil pump had failed and the fact that the engine didnt look as tho it had ever had the oil changed hadnt helped so I decided to start again reference the engine and built up a new one with a piper 270 cam new everything including a worked on head t25 turbo lightend and balanced flywheel uprated clutch and uprated bolts
new engine
new gearbox as the original wasn't a gt turbo one so wouldn't of lasted gearbox
engine all piped up with new samco hoses piped up engine
with the engine running I turned my attention to the running gear all new bushs shocks brake hoses and painted underneath arches and floor pans with hammerite
new brakes
I noticed that there was antifreeze in the o\s drivers floor pan and it was comeing from the heater matrix which if you know these cars it means taking the whole dash out which is a night mare to say the least
dash out
old and new matrix
and in some ways it was a good thing as the wiring needed alot of repairing and gave me chance to put an AFR gauge, boost gauge and oil pressure gauge in
dash back in
and once that was all done I booked it in for paint with a friend of mine for a full glass out respray alot of of panels were changed bonnet , tailgate , bumpers and loads of bodykit parts
at spray shop
back from paint
back from paint 2
and that brings us back upto date I have just started to reassemble it
going back together
going back together 2
let me know what you think thanks guys and all the best
Chris
