There's elements that I really love about this, but one overriding thing that just sticks out a mile is choice of rims. For the guy that 'owns' "Stanceworks", the self confessed place where wheels and stance are everything, the wheel choice is about as wrong as he could get it . Unless I'm really missing something?
Beautiful photos, as one would expect.

The wheels match the engine, pushing a boundary, a German V8 in an iconic American hot rod.

Think he's done it as a "same but different" take on skinny wire wheels. Needed taller tyres on the rear though.
It's OK I guess. I don't like the long bed and the engine sticking up higher than the cowl but I hate that on any car. Nice to see something that's same but different.

Curses,.. saw this on the front page yesterday evening : www.retro-rides.org/frontpage .. and was hoping to post it first thing this morning and you got there first EmDeePaul Looks like someone's first hot rod to me, what is more interesting is that he, being the person he is and the scene he is in, went down this route.

Love it. And it wouldn't be a Burroughs build without BBS splits.

I've just spent a few minutes squinting at the photos and tilting my head from side to side like some demented owl trying to decide how I feel about this.
Having read the write up on Stanceworks I can appreciate why he's done it and the vision that he had. As a project it appeals as something far more fulfilling than the usual stance/poke/flush/camber build that you find on the StanceWorks forums.
In terms of the car itself there are little bits that don't quite look finished, like the lower sides of the bed, and the pitman arm looks like a bit of an afterthought.
I'm nit picking really, and knowing the various stages that Rusty went through I have a feeling this will evolve a fair bit.
*edit*
Having given it some thought, I would definitely say Dez's Model A and the Budget Hotrod are streets ahead of this in terms of ingenuity and engineering.

I really like the guy's attitude, and i appreciate that he doesnt give a rats ass and does things for himself without worrying whos goin to like it. I just don't. Modern engines on old cars are ok, if the hood is shut no problem, but if it has to stay open it really requires some work to hide all the plastic and electronics. ECUs and stuff don't mix with the rest, at all. Those wheels...and wheel base, needs more towards the rear. If i understand his feelin for the whole project well I'm sure it will be redone better by the year.

I think I'm sticking with the crowd here in my thinking that it's great that he's done what he wanted in his own way, however does that mean I like the finished result... not overly if I'm honest. The engine is far too modern to be on display like that (however I 'get' why it is) and I think the stance looks a little tail happy right now. But there's details in there that are absolute genius, such as the BMW rear lights and for me the wheels work wonderfully too, since it takes a minute to even clock what they are, very clever.
All in all, it's cool... and it's cooler than anything I'll ever build... but I would have still done it differently if I was stood in his boots.

I love it personally. I love the way you can see a modern engine in there, even if it does stick up a little too far. And I bet it sounds awesome! The BBS splits just work really well, although I think they look best painted all black in the last photos.
The same, but different, is the perfect way to sum it up too

It's not really my style, I'm into traditional rods myself and that's about as traditional as Lady Gaga... However, that being said.
Way to think outside the box!

I think it looks great. The whole BMW/BBS ethos taken to a whole new level. With the added bonus of making the 6" turnup brigade choke on their Pabst. 8)
As has been already said, not what you'd expect from Mike Burroughs. But on the other hand EXACTLY what you'd expect from Mike Burroughs.

I actually saw a picture of this a few days ago (probably on here?) and noticed the wheels. Now we know who's responsible it all makes sense. In the world of hot rodding, I'm sure this would be described as kooky or assumed a bit amateur (styling, rather than quality) but in the world of stance, or indeed stance-rod crossover...the nail is well and truly hit on the proverbial head, I reckon.
