Howdy all,
So my mate rings up, his uncle has a Chevette in his garage that he doesn't know what to do with.
Because I have a Chevette, naturally I'm the first choice for advice
Story is, it's been in his garage, under cover since 1996, and last month they pulled it out and into the field, needing the garage space. Couldn't tell me if it runs, brakes or anything else, so I've just had a ride up to see it.
Well, I got it running, battery is totally dead as expected but it runs sweet. Had a rake around underneath, and it feels solid enough, there is rust, but couldn't feel any holes in the sills. Bottom edge of one of the wings (where it meets the sill) has come adrift, but it'll repair easy enough.
Tried to drive it but it seems the clutch is seized, won't go into gear when the engine is running. I'm assured it drove fine when it was parked up, so I'm guessing it's seized rather than 'gone'.
So here's the question: I reckon it's too good to scrap, it'll deffo go again, but I haven't the time nor space to do anything with it. The owners wanting advice on A:Scrapping, B:getting someone to fix it up and selling or C:selling as a project.
He stuck the for sale sign in the window just for a laugh, but it's backfired: he's already getting swamped by scrap merchants and banger racing boys !
What do you reckon gents ?
Oh, and it's got 17'000 genuine miles from new
