So, my retro, a 72 Dolomite 1850 auto, it's a running project as and when funds, time, and health allow. Originally brown, and manual, it's currently red and auto. Auto box suits it well, and it can still embarrass a few moderns without trying. It's easier to let the pics do the talking so, As bought There's something about a Triumph dash that shouts sporting class I used it as was until Christmas where it decided it didn't like the water seals in the pump and preferred it's coolant on the outside, combined with a house move, it ended up taking a back seat for 5 months or so, but it's getting there now. Couple of obvious additions, along with the Sprint lip spoiler Not immediately obvious, but a latter steering wheel, as it's slightly smaller and with a thicker rim, so much nicer to use than the thinner rimmed one. Did try the MGF alloys I had on it, but decided the Sprint alloys are more in keeping Delightful under bonnet view so work commences to sort water pump and tidy that mess up a bit. Next job is the bodywork, as despite a recent prep and respray, it's scabbing up on virtually every panel including the roof, so it's not going to be a quick sort and blend the repair in, it's going to pretty much need another full respray. What it looked like when the guy I bought it from first had it and what it's breaking out in all over So if it's going to need fresh paint, I'm debating on a colour change, I quite fancy Triumph Magenta on it, even though it was only offered on the Sprint and in 1974, I'm hardly a sucker for originality! Mind, that would probably entail an interior swap from tan to black too. Thoughts?

Truely lovely car this! I love the way it looks, sporty but understated. And the lip spoiler has given me ideas for my next car

Pageant blue is tempting, but it's pretty much the same colour my PI before this was I've had a play with various colours in photoshop, it looks quite good in Focus ST Orange, but I think something in keeping with the period would be better than a modern metallic colour.

Nice. I had an 1850HL in the early 90's and I know what you mean about giving the odd "hot hatch" a scare! Mine was blue like this and I think it suits the car nicely:

That is a gem of a motor...
It is indeed crazy to think that at a certain point in motoring history Triumph pooped all over BMW and they really did deserve to do far better than they eventually did!!!
I think a Dolomite looks pretty darn fab' in Magenta but if you'd prefer something a bit more 'Tango' then why not opt for the colour Triumph named Topaz, or failing that Saffron perhaps...?! Both nice, 'orangey'(ish) colours to think about...!!!
Keep up with the good work, a Triumph is a great classic car...!

Now there's a name I've not seen for a while! I'm also tempted with Vermillion, but it's not too different to what's already on there. Blaze is another fab BL colour, unlike limeflower, applejack hearing aid beige lol.

This takes me back to 1992, when my daily was a Vermillian red Dolly which I'd lowered over highly polished Sprint rims and dechromed. The rear lights came from a Chevette, as the originals stuck out too far after the bumper was removed !

Looks good! Done a few bits to get things sorted, stripped the roof back to get rid of the rust, so bodywork is progressing slowly. Have also finally decided on colour it's going. It'll be orange then.

Yikes, that is orange...!!! Brilliant...
What shade are you going to go with? I suppose Ford ones of the 70's are pretty bright with Vista Orange springing immediately to mind or perhaps the retina scorching Signal Orange...?!
It looks like good progress is being made so keep it up sir...

If I stay with BL it will be Blaze but as you say, Signal Orange from Ford is the alternative
