I am putting the two Area 52 drift trikes up for sale.
I would happily keep them but I would rather divert the funds into something else at the moment so have come to the conclusion that it's probably best to sell them.
I can take better photos if interested, but hopefully these will suffice to give you enough of an idea of how well built they are?
There are two different trikes for sale, a LWB and a SWB. Both made from good BMX frames and both built to a very good standard. Proof of this is that they've stood up to some rigorous nights triking with most of the Area 52 crew having a go at killing themselves on them. I seemed to win on that front with a permanently scarred leg, permanently scarred lip and plenty of blood spilt on the night to show for it (see video below).
Having said all that, the trikes are still in great shape and seem to be very tough. I can't find any damage on them despite our best efforts to demolish quite a few sections of wrought iron fencing.
Both trikes run proper Go-Kart alloys and brand new bearings, both have adjustable seats (pretty unique I think?), fully welded joints and jigged & sleeved rear axles for nice true running. Both trikes will also come with enough spare gas pipe to make at least two more pairs of sleeves along with a set of spare brand new bearings.
I am looking for £120 for each trike which is less than it cost to build them with all the good parts they have....and a lot less than equivalent/lesser trikes go for on eBay (an 'average' drift trike will sell for about £140-£150)
Both of these trikes will be appearing in an issue of the new Retro Cars magazine sometime soon. Shot by the ever awesome Bryn, the article features a night of fun building some of the fleet of trikes at Area 52 one very, very cold December night...followed by an even colder run down a steep hill not too far from the unit (sneak preview shot from the article)
To get you into the mood, here is one of the fantastic Area 52 'Drift Trike' videos that Corbs took:
