Hi, this is probably a bit new for RR but I need to get it sold and you guys are the most helpful car enthusiasts I know. I don't really know what its worth so I've put together my for sale ad (needs a bit more work, its a bit too negative) and some crappy photos. Any idea what I should be asking/expecting for it?
Also any idea where I should place the ad? I'm keen to miss out ebay if I can. Is Gumtree a good idea?

1999 (V) VW Golf 1.4 Petrol
77k. MOT is up in September (15th). Tax is until Jan 2014 (although I may cash this in).
I've used the car to go from home (West London) to work (Surrey near border with Sussex) everyday. Its a round trip of 74 miles per day the bulk of which is on the M3, M25 and A3. Other than that I've done a few trips up to the East Midlands and East Anglia to see my folks and the in-laws.
I've owned it since 68k and I got it Jan 2013. In that time I've had 2 new rear tyres (at the start of May), new spare tyre, leads and plugs done and driveshaft and gearbox mounting replaced.
Bodywork is mostly sound. Couple of rust spots around rear passenger side arch. A few small dents. Lots of scratches. Paintwork peeling in places. Various touch up jobs have been done so the car is a few different shades of gold (all fairly close to each other but sometimes where the panels meet its noticeable. Front lower valence (lowest part of bumper) is missing and has been for sometime (before I bought it). Likewise one of the rear mudflaps. Small hole in rear bumper. Small holes cut in the small grills below the headlights (previous owner put some strange little LED lights in there - I removed them). Passenger wing mirror is cracked. Boot is a bit bumpy round the handle. Some kind of weird small dent (see photo).
Windscreen is cracked on passenger side (out of drivers view and wiper area). It came up as an advisory on last MOT so should go through without it causing problems again.
Interior is ok, not too bad, usual wear and tear. Crack in part of the center console. Bit of wear on drivers seat.
Electrically: buzzer for lights (when you open the door) doesn't always work. One of the interior lights doesn't work, also one of the front door lights, one of the numberplate lights isn't working (possibly just a bulb only just noticed) and the glovebox light. Rear speakers aren't good but front work fine and seem pretty good. Central locking works 99% of the time but the drivers door lock gets caught sometimes on the barrel so you have to do it with the
key (like 1 in 5 times max). I keep meaning to remove the door car and fix it.
Someone knicked one of my side indicators recently (cut the wire too! or pulled it out entirely, can't find any part of it). So that'll need to be replaced. They're on ebay (about £10 used or £15 new I think). Also I've got new bulbs for the parking/side lights but not fitted them yet.
Front numberplate has a crack but its been this way for a while (since I've had it).
Alloy wheels are a bit scracthed (see photos).
Bad points (mechanically):
Throttle body could do with a clean apparently (I keep meaning to get someone to do this but haven't got round to it). It works fine, just stalls sometimes when parking (ie when speeds are below about 3 mph). Restarts again first time. Been doing it for a couple of weeks.
Clutch is a bit high apparently. Can't say I really noticed but apparently it is so it'll need doing one day.
Driveshaft broke when I was going round a roundabout. Apparenlty its not too uncommon on Golfs and it looked like it may have been the original one that was replaced. Gear box mounting done at the same time. I've done almost 1000 miles since then and its been fine.
Engine sounds a little bit like a diesel. This is the problem exactly: YOUTUBE link (not my video). its been doing this for the past couple of months. I've been meaning to get this sorted but haven't got round to it. There seems to be lots of videos of the 1.4 VW engine, have a look.
Its also got an intermittent problem in that it sounds and feels a bit like its going to stall when it gets warm (over 2 hours driving). But as I say its intermittent. For example last week it only did it one day out of the 4 I drove it. It doesn't stall (99% of the time), it just feels like light shudders coming from the engine (like that bit in Jurassic Park where the water in the cup ripples!). Apparently its something to do with a seal on part of the engine (cylinder seal? sorry not very knowledgable on engines). Anyway my mechanic told me not to bother. He's had loads of 1.4 VW engines with the same problem. He said it'd be too expensive to change for the benefit (apparently it won't fail the MOT on emissions or anything).
Good points:
It works, its only got 77k on it. Its got me up and down the motorway everyday.
I'm getting rid of it as I got a Vectra on a bit of a whim. Its a big diesel so perfect for going up and down the motorway.
