FOR SALE: 2000 Audi A6 Avant 1.8T SE
114,000 miles
Taxed until 31st March 2014
MOT until 11th January 2014
Features include dual zone climate control, rear parking sensors, one-touch electric windows all round with remote open/close, remote locking, electric heated mirrors, trip computer, steering wheel radio controls, electric height adjust on front seats, many airbags, many storage spaces, many courtesy lights, power steering, ABS, 'Concert' audio system with amplifier and subwoofer, rear headrests / armrest / cup holders, retractable load cover and retractable dog guard / luggage guard, masses of cabin space and boot space, roof rails, front fog lights and probably some other stuff I've forgotten.
Good stuff: It has all the old MOTs and loads of service history. The previous owner is a technician at Audi Macclesfield, so knew his stuff and maintained the car himself, at Audi, with Audi parts. He replaced the turbo not long before I bought it with what he said is a bigger turbo, although this is the one thing that wasn't a genuine part. His plan was then to re-map it, but as his wife used it more than him, he never bothered. So there is great potential for a bit more performance here. It certainly pulls well as it is, with a pronounced turbo whine which is most enjoyable. It's actually fairly rapid if you want to press on!
I fitted a new coolant temp sensor recently, and used a genuine part, not a cheap GSF/Euro one that'll fail again. All the window runners have been lubricated with silicone so they work nice and smoothly. The tyres have loads of life, Michelin on the rear and budget on the front.
Bad stuff: The engine light came on not long after I bought it. It has been back to the previous owner, my local VW garage and my local trusted independent garage, and nobody can figure out what the problem is. A couple of hoses were replaced but to no avail. I've just learned to live with it now as it runs beautifully and clearly isn't suffering from anything significant!
And more recently, the ABS light has started coming on. It seems to happen at random, sometimes at start-up, sometimes when I'm just cruising along. I simply haven't had time to investigate this, other than checking the fluid level (tip top) and stomping on the brakes. My initial thought was that the control module (in the passenger foot well) got wet when the A/C drain blocked. The two events did coincide.
Oh, and the drivers side door mirror is cracked. Not badly, not enough to make me change it but worth mentioning.
Generally the car is in good condition inside and out. Not perfect, it has some scratches and such, but it's far better than a lot I looked at! It's extremely practical, especially as a family hauler, and very comfortable on long journeys. The fuel economy isn't bad either - I get 33mpg average, driven sensibly (but not like a granny) and with a mixture of roads. It'll do 40mpg on a long motorway run.
Price-wise I'm looking for £1,300 o.n.o.
Enough waffle, here's the car:
The car is located in Warrington, Cheshire.
My number is zerosevenfiveonefivezerozerosevensixoneeight
Thanks for looking!
