a chap who i work with(pete)has these two cars, we both work in a the motor vehicle department at our local college, he is retiring next week, and he fancies a new polo/ fabia,he was thinking of asking the dealer how much hed get, but i think these two are too special to be chopped in read on.......
The first is a 1992 bmw 316i auto(1.8) it has a genuine 78,000 miles on it and has been looked after by pete (ex bmw mechanic) its whole life, before pete got it, i was owned by the managing directors wife of a bmw dealership, who when he retired would take the car to no-one but pete.the car is 99% mint and is totally standard, right down to the bmw wheel trims. it does have an after market cd player with an aux input in it, the only thing with it is there is staining on the inner lip of the rear arches where it has started to rust, but you cant see this when looking head on. Pete has done allsorts to it since he got it off his old boss, and its wanted for nothing, its motd and taxed too.
car 2 is a 1994 vw golf match 1.4, now pete has had this from when it was 2 years old and it has the abd code engine in it, it has been looked after by pete, and only 2 month ago, pete put a clutch in it, not because it needed one but because pete "thought it was time". this has done a genuine 55,000 miles(maybe less) and is a match model in dark non-metallic blue(forgot the actual colour).... totally original except for aftermarket trims and an aux in cd player, the underside is mint, and the only thing to note is the rear arches have slight bubbling( paint already mixed for it), it is totally standard except for an electric sunroof, and it has a full sized spare ( peter refused to take delivery of the car until the salesman supplied him with a full sized wheel instead of the crappy space saver!!:-)) this is also taxed and mot'd.
i think he is unsure as to wether to actually get rid of them cos as he puts it- " the golfs my baby, and the bmws my hobby" but he loves them both, but he wants to downsize for his retirement and get a newer fabia or polo.
so......... any thoughts on values for these two motors???
