Greece and Cyprus are chocked full of retro goodness. Cyprus is particularly interesting as being an ex British territory, they drive on the correct side of the road and as such used to (still do) get direct imports from Japan, so there is plenty of old J metal doing the rounds. Being half Cypriot, I spent my formative years out there and it was a real treat to see The last Ford picture made me chuckle because of an irony. The banner above the United Colors of Benetton is for a far right organisation called 'Golden Dawn'! I wonder how Benetton feel about that!!

That is funny, I couldnt understand the greek writing and the extra letters in the alphabet, usually I can work it out, but not Greek. I saw lots of grafiti saying GA13 or GATE 13. Is that a political organisation? Not too keen to far right organisations, I guess its as a result of the Economy. With the cars it didnt really look like there was anywhere to scrap old cars, plus it is pretty rural and undeveloped, so people just left them. I saw a dumped cars on French, Austrian and UK plates too.

L300 Lots of amazing cool stuff in here, but this - a 'plain & simple' white panel van.....OOOFFF!! I adore L300's and this one is a real honey. I've looked at the sort of distances involved. A ferry to Italy then 1,500 miles to drive home. Sounds like a perfect excuse for a road trip, holiday and a new member of the fleet all in one!

It's a nice island too- only family holiday abroad I ever had as a kid, the 'rents hired a Suzuki SJ for a couple of days and we went and explored. Lots of retro tat knocking about but I didn't take any pics, would love to go back. Overland would be cool!

Theres loads of L300s some battered, but not rotten and all with faded paint, I think Mistubishi were one of the few main dealers on the island. I spoke to an English bloke who drove there in a 2001 MGF, he went via Italy and drives back every 6 months. Reckoned he could do it in 48 hours, my chin itched at this point.

If the cars aren't stupidly expensive (although I have a feeling they will be), the export side of things not too complex (although I have a feeling they will be) and the ferry side of things no too much of an expense (although I think they will be) then I'd definitely be up for a flight/holiday/van purchase/road trip.
Hmmmmm - food for thought!

Hmmmmm - food for thought! Sorry to burst your bubble but the Greeks are delusional when it comes to valuing the cars. Ferries are stupidly expensive and anything to do with paperwork is a nightmare... (ask me how I know )

Still quite a lot of old cars in Greece because they don't rot that much, but quite a lot of them are very bodged up mechanically.
