This weekend, I headed to the Henry Ford museum - pics below. It's got a really diverse range of exhibits, and not limited to Ford products at all...
This is the view that greets you upon entry...
There is a huge range of vehicles, old and new...
As I said, quite diverse
Plenty of planes...
Not to mention some vast mechanical equipment...
Back to the cars...
This really was minty... I think it was the first one built in the US...
In amongst everything was the only world's only Dymaxion house, designed by Buckminster Fuller, the second president of Mensa. Meant to be the future of living
Don't like cars? How about a steam loco?
At first, I thought this was a bond bug...
As you'd expect, there is even a replica Stevenson's Rocket...
And something a little larger...
There were a number of historically significant cars there too, including the bus Rosa Parks was arrested on...
Not to mention the 1961 Lincoln Kennedy was in when he was assassinated.
And if that's a little sombre, there are other things to lighten the mood.
I'd certainly recommend a visit should you get a chance.
As we were leaving, we happened to spot a car park full of cars from the freeway.
Turned out we had stumbled upon the 2013 Mustang memories show, at Ford Dearborn.
Even in the car park there were some tasty vehicles...
Great personal plate...
On to the show...
It was announced more than 1000 cars had turned up.
Lots of Mustangs...
And a selection of other interesting machinery... at least 5 GT and GT40s
These Fords must all be unreliable, they all had the bonnets open...
While most of the cars there were mostly close to standard, this wasn't...
and all the better for it
This was absolutely factory fresh... lovely
Awesome Escort...
After a couple of hours in the glorious sunshine, it was time to head home...
All in all, it mostly reminded me that my V8 needs a better exhaust note...
Apologies for the lack of narration - hope you enjoyed the pics
