Not strictly retro, but hopefully with only a couple of hundred left it has its merits Well after having to put up with my mind numbingly dull 320d as a daily, I thought I'd best treat myself and as I love left field things, decided to track down an Almera GTi This was on e bay and I put in a cheeky bid to end it early. Body wise there's a couple of scabs, but overall its v.shiny. Full service history on its bomb proof SR20de lump. Drives really well and is one of those deceptively quick cars, where you don't realise your speed before you look at the clock! I'm at JAE this weekend and will be picking up some goodies for it, such as cross drilled and vented discs from a member of the almera OC. Plans are to lose the 4x4 stance, tidy the body and enjoy. The best bit for me was the sub £180 a year full comp insurance with Tescos. What with that and the price I paid for it, lifes pretty sweet at the mo' Daz.

Decent price (I assume), cheap insurance, headlight protectors and some TSW Stealths. Nice!

Price was v Good - £500,T&T, FSH and was owned by a guy that waxed it religiously every week. It truly was immaculate inside and out, not a single mark on any bumper corner (First)and garaged. I usully have to visit the car wash after I buy something before to justify my spending to the missus Talking of which, it looks like its never seen a car wash, as there's no swirls at all on the paint. I could tell I was on to a winner when he went into the front room to get the face unit for the stereo, which was kept in its box and out of the car each night! There is a great site for these- www.almeraownersclub.com which is UK based and seems to have all of the ones left as members. Some on there have GTiR powered ones, theres a few rare VZR's and a couple of Autech's plus one of the mods has a VZR N1. The holy grail of these...

Well done on the purchase. These really do go for low money now, although mine is rusted through and through I only wanted it for the running gear. I did enjoy the drive bringing it home though. The drive is excellent in them and although only 150bhp from the factory there are plenty of tuning options even without going down the turbo route.

I got a black phase 2 gti when i sold my sccobie last year. I love it! stripped it out to use a a track toy, did a full exhaust, made up an induction kit and played around with the timing. Goes really well for what it is and its pretty on fuel too. Currently on 184k and still going strong!

I'm sort of toying with one of these but am swaying more towards a Saab 9-3 because there are so few of them out there. Cracking little cars.
