My brother has been over tonight and deposit has been left so the car can be collected tomorrow. I will post some other photos when I get them. Black 500SEC, Carat body kit, Zender wheels, piped leather :-)
I have said my brother can have this one but it will scratch the itch for a body kitted one to play with

Hi all Sorry what with working abroad and Xmas things have been manic. Quick update on the Merc, towards the end of last year I found a brand new in box Kamei boot spoiler in Australia. I was actually cheaper to buy than a second hand Zender in the UK and that included shipping! I love it, very retro 80's. Gave the wheels a bit of a clean up, looking much better but a proper polish refurb is very high on the list of to do's. This week my bargain genuine 80's AMG steering wheel arrived, looks much better than the Nardi one I had and really goes with the interior design. Another bargain, this time from the UAE! Things happening, work depend for time scale, include a real and period correct AMG badge to replace the incorrect one (have a few offered to me) and I have just stumbled upon a manual pedal box for this model (W126) and have been talking to a specialist because the car is going to be converted to 6 speed manual. Was going to do it myself but time etc means it will be given to a well known guy once I have the funds. A great little mod was done just before Xmas and I had the 4 (2x each side) centre boxes removed from the exhaust and straight piped. Result is next to no difference at cruising speeds but when the throttle is opened it really does sound like an old American muscle car, just like a 5.6 V8! Perfect compromise. Spent a week stripping every interior part etc and replacing every interior lamp so everything is working and I can see them in the dark yay. Then fixed the cruise control with a different module from the one we broke. Gave the engine bay abit of a quick clean up and took the spare air filter housing and cut away the front and rear before chucking in a K&N. It's not been finished fully yet as I am not sure if it's staying but the induction roar is very addictive so............. Also had the camber, toe, castor etc set the other day after replacing all the front end bushes, wishbones, rod ends and steering links, as well as both front callipers which came from a SEC we broke and they were newly new. Finally I disassembled the headlight and tail lights to clean them correctly. So it's getting there!

Nice 560's mate.
Azev's are one of my favourite 1 piece wheels and I think they really suit it.
But the black one....Big pimping...Those oldskool Zender splits are cool.
Did the Carat Duchatelet kit come dealer fitted?

Thank you, I love my 560 and it's going to get lot of time lavished on it. The manual gearbox is the next big job the come the bodywork. The Avez got some much attention everywhere it goes.
The black one is part owned with my brother and we are not sure about the kit. It has the full body kit, pipe leather which is quite odd, correct wood/metal steering wheel, Zenders and the very rare rear light infill.
So not sure but I think it's the real deal

I love those Zender split rims. Just hard as nails. Big fan of Azev too. They just make cars of the period, like Sumpcrackers 944, and I loved them on my M3.

Cheers all,
MarkE21, that M3 is simply stunning! Being a rally fan I have seen a fair few of those E30 M3 tuned to the max and they sing and dance beautifully.
I think Avez has to be one of the all time greatest wheel designs. Going to start looking about for a decent company to polish the lip back on mine, I've done Alfa Revolutions before myself but this one a bit to rare to much about with.
Just finalising the deal on a genuine AMG 300 KPH instrument cluster with white dials :-)

That's part of what makes me think it possibly is a genuine Carat, got to love piped leather

Had a parcel arrive this morning! Took a while to find this, it's a manual pedal box from a W126 6 cylinder that they sold on the continent . Had to translate all sorts of variations of pedal, clutch etc into German then search eBay.de until I find one.

Hugely massive fan of this. The wheels are absolutely perfect on it, and I love that wheel.
Bizarrely, my favourite feature of SECs is the ridiculous glovebox handle. Just so stereotypically 80's.
How much difference has cutting out the boxes made? I'm debating what to do exhaust wise on my 140.

Hey Captain wow,
Thanks for the compliment, this is the result of watching way too much Miami Vice as a kid and all the 80's cop films full of drug dealer Merc's lol.
The exhaust is perfect, at cruising speeds you really would struggle to tell the difference over the standard system, there is no noise or drone at steady revs and at low speeds is quite inaudible. However on full throttle it has a great throaty roar that's not to intrusive but definitely let's you know there's a V8 up front.
Can't wait to get the manual conversion done later in the year

Can't wait to get the manual conversion done later in the year Same here, mine's the result of myself (and Bruce!) reading far too many 90's car magazines! I have a massive want for a nice 126. Whereabouts are you? WOuld be interesting to get some period shots of them together! I'm quite tempted to chop the boxes out of mine, but I don't want to ruin the refined wafty-ness of it. Mine's only a 6 , but it does have an fantastic roar when you open it up. Bizarrely, my favourite feature of SECs is the ridiculous glovebox handle. Just so stereotypically 80's. What's ridiculous about it? Looks fairly sensible to me. The door handles, on the other hand... They're just fairly enormous in the flesh and look like an actual door handle. Perhaps ridiculous was the wrong word. I just love the 80's ness.
