Disappointing but according to the story it's a decision that's been made by the organisers as well. To be fair, I can see their point if they don't yet know what caused the fatality.

Its actually been cancelled for months now. It was announced before the Summer that owing to the on going court case and investigation around the fatality last year it wouldn't be run this year. Sad, but understandable.

I have to say, i love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next man, and I did wonder if there was a hidden agenda behind it all. It's clear B&H Council have been doing their best to run down the Speed Trials for years. For example, they won't open the middle tier of promenade because it's apparently unsafe for large numbers of people... yet it was open for spectator viewing throughout the Olympic events that were staged on Madeira Drive. I think the organisers might have agreed to the postponement out of respect for the dead, but y'know, even the 96 dead of Hillsborough only warranted a two minute applause when the news of the cover-up came out. Surely cancelling the entire event is a bit drastic. I could tell them for free what caused the admittedly tragic fatality. It's because motorsport is dangerous, says so on the ticket.
I think the organisers will find it very hard to get the most leftist hand-wringing enviro-mental council in history to now grant licenses to re-commence the event. It's much easier to keep something running than stop and start it again. A real shame if this is the end of the longest-running automotive sporting event in the world

Bexhill, which is just along the coast, managed to cock up the Bexhill 100 by banning it from the seafront, one of the best free car shows in the country, for the uninitiated Bexhill is the place where the first motor race took place in the UK along the sea front from Galley Hill to the bottom of Sea Road
