Aha this is amazing! Aren't these based on Pug 306 chassis and as a by-product actually quite well handling little vans? They appear to be a mish mash, the front is 306 based - at least the coilovers will fit. The rear is 205 based, I think, definitely has the torsion bars. Does it handle well? In a word, no, but I bet it could be easily improved by being re-acquainted with the earth a touch.

Can you detail you 'remote' tailgate locking/release mech, as the lock is missing from my rear door, and I have to keep clambering through the load area in order to open the rear doors. I have no pics of it I'm afraid. For the single piece bootlid: If you take the interior boot panel off you will see the boot release, it is a white nylon peg. If you shut yourself in the boot and mess with it, you will learn its functionality. I drilled it, put a threaded bar through it which protruded to the top of the boot beneath the window. Now when you wobble it from one side to the other it locks & unlocks, if you press it down in either position it releases the boot. The threaded bar rattled so I ran it through a greased hose/sleeve to help its movement, and obviously put a door knob on the end of it and removed some interior panel so it has a gap to come through. Is that your van? I want those wheels? 407 spares?

rear is 405 not 205, big difference, bulkhead forwards is indeed all 306/xsara, the rear beam will bolt straight onto a 405. I would say they actually handle very well for a van. I have a Berlingo van and I think it handles superbly. It can be thrown around even on bumpy or heavily cambered roads and it just hangs on with barely a squeak from the tyres. I'd also say it rides over bumps more comfortably and with less noise than our Focus Cmax family car. I really rate these vans, it's a far better drive than my brother-in-laws nearly new and more powerful Transit Connect TDCi in virtually every respect. I'd love to swap out the n/a 1.9d for something quicker - 2.2HDi?!

What a good idea, wish I had thought of that!
Looks like yours is far better finished than mine ever was, the passenger seat in mine folded flat so a visit to the local scrappy should sort one out for you, the drivers I'm not so sure about, maybe a second passenger one or take the mechanism out. You have the car version which might explain the seats!
All it needs is a dodgy rustolem finish! Like what your doing / plan to do with this!

I've been perpetually fooling around with this, painted my bonnet satin black, and put some alloys on (which I didn't like, only got them for the tyres really) Fixed my indicators and wipers, they were inconsistent, due to bad connections in the stalks, disassembled and replaced bits. Removing the airbag felt very perilous. Made a table, there is an A3 sized extending bit underneath, it is all retractable into a 25cm(ish) depth of shelf. Pretty solid feeling too, I made it from wood I got off an unwanted piano, it feels lovely. And I bought one of these from Ebay, they're really very cheap and come in a variety of lengths, I think it is excellent, well made and nice to operate. Which converts the lighting inside from this (with the factory boot light): To this: A huge difference and one which makes it all the more welcoming. My grey interior was a bit drab and uninspiring, so I decoupage'd the inside of it with a few old hot rod or VW mags I had lying about. I noticed there was a DIN sized gap unused it the dash, and that many cars have DIN width cupholders, so I set about installing a set from a mk4 VW Golf Which fits pretty much perfectly, and works like it was meant to be there. Previously I was having trouble storing the trim bits which bridge the gap between seat and passenger side to from the bed, I'd slung them under the seat but they slid about and stole storage space, so I worked out they'd be best put to use as like a seat back, but how to secure them against the sides? ^ Like this So my solution was the simplest I could come up with, I got some shock cord (really tough elastic stuff) and fabricated some hooks to rivet to the body of the van. Screwed the shock cord to the backs of the trim bridge-y cushion pad things... So now they are firmly retained in a laid back upright position, and easily removable. Still allowing the van to go from day van to camper in minutes.

Another feature I like, to enable the rear door to be closed I have fitted a cord pull, so you don't have to get out to close it. Now to stop the cord pull from hanging down when the boot is open or knocking as you drive, I drilled the bottom of the pull out, glued in a neodymium magnet, and also stuck a magnet to the back side of the associated interior trim so it attaches "magically". AND THEN... I blew the engine, or at least the cambelt snapped, anyway it's had a replacement engine put in. Sort of a mixed blessing as it uses way less fuel now and is quite a bit quieter, the old one sounded terrible anyway. Did some strange jobs, made a ladder for the back from some leftover bits of steel, made it as light as a feather so the boot still lifts easily. This is so I can board out the roof rack and get easy access to it. Also I retrimmed the seat/bed in some thick red upholstery fabric some exchange students left at my uni, it's much more welcoming and also less likely to tear than the vinyl, and I doubled up the foam inside to make it thicker and better cushioned. Made cushion covers in the same fabric too. Coilover on the front: With this as the result Cannot for the life of me work out how to get the rear of it down a bit, it has torsion bar rear suspension, which I do not understand AT ALL, I mean I get the principle but I cannot work out how to get it apart after 15 years! Made some more changes, put in an adjustable light: Wanted more storage, worked out that in the drivers seat I have too much headroom, and noted the car already had some kind of a shelf for storing road atlas sized things in, but that I could extend it backwards to make a decent capacity store area. So this is made form a piece of fibreboard, an aluminium pole along the back end, wrapped in pipe lagging as a padding against headshots, and trimmed over with some leftover grey vinyl. It may not look big in the photos, but it offers a tonne of storage and it is of no detriment at all to the headroom. I'm 6 foot and don't miss the space, it doesn't feel claustrophobic, it's like a regular car headroom now.
