Hello all, not posted on here for a while as I've been without a retro, but this summer I got myself this e30, I've had several in the past but none quite as nice as this one. The last owner had it seven years and only drove it 1500 miles! Anyway here's a few pics So there she is, she isn't totally standard.... but almost (those with good eyes may have spotted) , jobs to do are a full suspension strip down with new rubbers, some stiffer springs and a touch of powder coating.

No doubt a sensible choice, but i really like the m42's. I had a 318is in Alpine White 2 same as yours, also on an H-plate. Really great car. Yours looks mint.

The m42 was a great all round little lump but I've always thought the m52 is one of bmw's best (non M) engines, so when combined with what I feel is the best car bmw made I am one happy boy! Thanks for good feedback people!

This really is a lovely car. I have hankered after an E30 318iS for quite some time! The only issue with that idea is that I have also lusted over quite a few M52 engined E30s, although in an ideal world, I wonder whether the balance of the M42's lack of weight makes up for things. .

Lot mention the wieght bonus of the little m42 but as it's an iron block and the m52 in all alloy the m52 is slightly lighter! The only thing to consider is that there is another two cylinders in front that has potential to affect balance. But I can report that in real world driving it feels no different other than the extra power and heavier throttle!

That's lovely just how an E30 should look, clean and understated. A friend of mines got a m52 powered E30 sounds lovely and goes well, it's a great combination.

Makes me think I really must post my white e30 318is here, but it isnt worthy at the moment, it really needs a clean! Eventually want mine to look like yours does now, minus the engine swap as mine still has a good m42. Awesome is you got there!

Ok so I've been doing a few more bits to the e30 recently so thought I would stick some pics on. Firstly, changed the standard springs for Eibach pro's. Thie ride height is better and now doesn't squat so bad under hard acceleration. It does crash a little on the front now so suspect new shocks may be required I've also fitted up a clubsport rack that reduces the turns lock to lock from four to three turns, this has made the world of difference! Turning into roundabouts feels much more natural same with the twisty b-roads So that's it for now I think, also gave it damn good clean and polish after it came out of the garage after being sat in there for a while, looking forward to getting a few more miles on it and will save up for new shocks and also some new tyres as the ones on it are old and cheap! A nasty combination!

what a stunning car.looks all the better for being a bit lower. e30's are gonna be scarce soon as they make a nice cheap drift car for skidding novices.i bought mine recently before the price for tidy ones goes silly! I wish it were as nice as yours though.are they 14" or 15" bbs?

Thanks Luckyjim! Yep they are getting pricey for anything nice now (compared with a few years back anyway) but so cheap to modify with such interchangability of part from later cars.
Wheels are 15" btw, prob going for toyo TR1 tyres when finances permit.....

tr1's would be a good choice,i am considering the same but not sure what size to go for ,I am running 195/50 x 15 but thinking of going 205/55 for a bit more sidewall/comfort for my dodgy back!

What a great looking car, white e30's look so fresh after a good polish
Can I just ask how much did it cost you to fit the new steering rack? its something I'm looking to do with mine, but just need to get an idea of cost.
