I'm looking at those arches and pondering if a similar design would pass an MOT..... They are spectacular.

Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

i'd love to know how much development went int the arches. i.e. if the aero actually performs any useful function.

This was built by a father and son team (both called Dave) that were originally called DP Motorsport (DP=Dave Perry) to do 'Time Attack'. They were based in Warrington. They were famous back in the day for making some of the fastest pulsars ever (for example - ) along with many other J cars over the space of many years... They are no longer in business as DP, i think coupled with competition and ressession etc rumor has it they had some troubles and DP folded. They set up DD Autosport (DD=Dave/Dave) and worked out of their house i think, ultimately creating that insane beast you see above... Then i don't know, no body in the pulsar scene has really said anything about them for ages... I'm sure their up to something fun! And dave+dave if you are reading this, the engine you built me 7 years ago is running fine! The lad (Daniel) in the video above now has a pulsar running 500+bhp, it is more than insane! I saw it run at a track day last year along with another one running 500+bhp... they both go round corners well, but in the straights they literally go like, and sound like, a missile!!! The turbo howl/hiss = WOW! DP senior was a porsche expert back in the day running a company called 930 Sport (i.e. tuning and racing 911 turbos) and DP junior was following in dad's footsteps working in the business thus becoming DP Motorsport. They created the car you see for time attack which lead us out on the 20th pulsar anniversary parade at silverstone, i was there with my black one. - Word on the street was 'the beast' you see was created purely for a buzz and running time attack. Having the ability to built super fast pulsars and being a good driver mr DP senior did ok with it, but everything was welded and hand crafted based on 'that looks like it'll do the trick...' the arches must simply of been to scare people and cover the huge wide track wheels... i've heard from people who have seen the shell properly close up since it was tripped for parts, they said it was a bit ropey. DP built my car (GTIR) many years ago after my engine exploded. Cut a long story short i still have the engine in my 3rd GTIR shell after various crashes which were luckily not my fault... 8 years later i'm still running standard power, trust me these cars are fast and scary! Tiny car, 220bhp at 1200kg = 180bhp per ton as standard, 4x4 so never get stuck in snow, and 0-60 at 5.3seconds (Rapid compared to others 'Best Motoring Magazine' article i681.photobucket.com/albums/vv174/mreguest_bucket/Times.jpg ), 1/4 mile 13.8sec + huge grip if you fit bigger wheels and awesome straight line speed, what more can you want? Call me bias but for the money there's not much that can keep up. Super cheap to fix as it shares lots of parts with normal sunny, primera, almera, 200sx, 300zx and micra. Super rare too, they only made around 15,000 total and there's not many left. Other than at members meetings and car shows i only see about 2 per year on the road that are not mine... Nissan have just launched a new pulsar so here's hoping the advertising will do some help for the originals. Considering how much the intergralle and escort cossie cost these days (for lesser performance) i'm still surprised the GTIRs are still £3000, prices very slowly rising but that's only because they are getting stripped and written off. Thanks for reading and good night world! Adam

Thanks mreguest that is exactly the sort of post I love on here Hmm Time Attack cars are awesome, it is one of the few forms of motorsport where our engine swap cars could run on just a National B MSA license. Maybe my Sunny will head into it next year

mreguest Thanks for that rad post! Do you have a thread on here for your Pulsar? I love GTIRs always have done and it's one of those cars that if I still lived in England I would definitely own!
