Well I bought the car a "new" engine. It's a 903cc sportscoupe engine, it should have 57hp. so that's 20 more then I have now! That should be fun! I don't know what to do with it yet, a complete refurb or just the seals. Or just put it in as it is now.. anyway I am not in a hurry to do the swop. One thing, I used the water temperature sensor for the new engine and since this morning the temp. meter is working! So that is already a win! I also traded my koni's for avo's. In Holland somebody is building a 850-OT1600 replica and really wanted my koni's for his OT. That's it for now. grtz

Last Friday The little 850 has been on the rolling road for the dutch car magazine "Autoweek" They have an item in their magazine to see how much hp a car still has after some years. Apparently they were they were curious about the 850. After a pretty long session and a lot of noise at 5000rpm..haha (maybe because of the exhaust) the result is 35hp and 51nm torque. I think it isn't bad after 45 years. Officially it should have 37hp and 54nm. I am happy with result and the engine sounded strong and somewhat happy at 5000-5500 rpm. I only added a little bit to much coolant before the trip. so after a while the engine started puking it out through the expansion reservoir. After checking the temperatures were all good to go. So we tried again. There will be a item in the magazine and and short film on youtube. But I don't know yet when that will be posted. After my car they had a Peugeot 205 1.9GTI on the rolling road. It was one of the latest so with 122hp. But after rolling it seemed to have only 102hp left in it.
I still have the engine from the coupe, but after this result I am keeping it as a spare for now. But that changes from time to time...haha Because I am also wondering how the little car would drive with almost 60hp..
And the result

When the article is available I will share! But they haven't told when..
For now I will be driving around with this engine, it has no issues yet and works great. Starts when I want to, even after a couple of weeks.
I am only planning to maybe lower the car a bit by cutting the rear springs and extending the lower eyes of the kingpins

Edit: And I should have read better, because from your story it's actually clear that you don't work there

Could be. But I imported the car into the Netherlands. The car comes from Italy. But someone from Belgium tried to get it licensed in Belgium. But that didn't work out as far as I know.

Well I pulled the head of my Original engine and it looks still pretty okay. there are a few small grooves/scratches, but nothing major. This engine was running okay, so I will have the head skimmed. The headgasket was broken at cil.1 the metal ring had cracked. The gasket was very difficult to take of. So it will be some work to clean it.
While the head is of I could resist to take some metal from the inlet I will also do the exhaust side. Doing this should give a little more low end power and a better sound haha

Haha GREAT ..porting the head, you shouldn't done that ..if the gasket wasn't blown away.. A lot of sludge there,re-newing it and cleaning everything ...the engine will run better .. Ciao

Well, the little 850 is running again! and actually better then ever! I also renew the gaskets of the carburettor. and together with the porting it runs great! The engine picks up a lot better now. I also had to tap a new thread in the cilinderhead(after is was mounted) because the thread pulled out of the head when I thightened the rockers..Luckely the thread is positioned above a exhaust port. and I already had done it 2 times before. After that and adjusting the valves. I also had another problem, the accelerator membrane was leaking. But it was a new one..strange. First it was a little folded when mounting on the carburator. But after correcting that it was still leaking, so I changed it for a "I don't know" how old one out of my spare weber 30DIC. and guess what! no more leakage! succes. I think the quality of the newer types is very poor?
But we have no more smoke: onedrive.live.com/?cid=C690E2CD ... 161104&v=3
I also have this in the garage, some 850 spider springs. This a direct swap as they are the same as the originals. But they drop the rear by 1,5cm, which would give the rear a little negative camber
