Well rather than just updating the Workshop thread periodically, I think its about time everyone got a see at more of a 'start to finish' of one of our project!
..besides which, we will take input and advice and ideas on the project.
I picked this up from a Fellow RR member a few days ago and we got started today.
1991 Subaru BRAT.
I love the Sweep of the B-Pillar into the bed and the retro looks.. flat four engines are always a win, and retro insurance.
Were currently Using a Forester STI as a 'fetch me-carry me' workhorse and its a shame to be messing up the interior and notching up all these miles on it.
..SO the plan is to stick an MOT onto her this week, fit 4 new arches and give it one of our luxurious paintjobs.
Its going to be Flawless bodywork and a stenciled 'firefly speedshop' logo on each door.. maybe the tailgate too?..
Since picking her up:
Within 60 seconds the pickup cover was removed.
We removed the towbar/rear girder and refitted the fog into its correct place.
Handle for drop down tailgate was straightened up.
Ive been over the car and despite the Previous owner ( Nice to meet you! ) giving an honest description. It DOES need some mechanical work.
.. The previous owner hung a new backbox on (Now properly on), and fitted a new rear brake hose. Looks like its had new plugs too.
.. ready to go on tomorrow is a new drivers side rear bearing, other rear brake hose, new drivers side bottom ball joint, new air filter and oil filter and oil.
After this its ready for MOT Bar bodywork.
all 4 arches are Ropey to outright shot.
Passenger door has been pushed in, as has passenger side rear quarter. The rest is all minor stuff.
Ive struck a deal with a fella breaking a BRAT and ive got a pair of front wings, a couple of missing bits of trim.. both rear arches and fog light blank.
So ANYONE got an advice or ideas were well open!..
.. It will have gorgeous paint, as thats our thing. but other than that were pretty open.
