Volvo 7 or 9 series 2.3 (with or without turbo) estate. £2k would buy an excellent one, with some cash left over for modifications / nice wheels etc. The best one of these that I could find... ... really would love one of these as a daily if I could afford to run it. One of these for under £2000? That just oozes cool/class £2k is unlikely to buy a nice one as shown the pic. Any two doors and estates for that money will be very ropey, but may be enough to buy a half decent four door, probably single carb, and either basic four speed or automatic, rather than twin carb & overdrive. Still likely to require significant welding for the next MOT though... A £2k one of those will be an utter shed, and very unlikely to have an MOT! |

In no order: BMW E28 Mercedes W123 or 114 Jaguar XJ Series 3 Reason? I love the look of them all and they look even better dumped over nice wheels. Plus ive always wanted one. If it was nearer £5k it would be a Merc 190 Cosworth  Maybe a 70's Citroën Dyane, Renault 4 or Citroën GS because they make me smile lol. Or a 205 Gti/Mk1 Golf Gti... it's realy to hard to choose lol     Others...    And the others..   |

Easy, Reliant Scimitar SE5 That's an SE6 (also within budget), try this:  As I already have an SE5 (the one above in fact) I'd have to look towards a sorted Triumph 2000  or a tidy SD1 Or a proper Jaguar!!!! |

That Triumph 2000 look well tidy you don't seem to see them anymore. Think they were always over shadowed by the P6 which is another great car.

Oh lord too many choices BX 16 valve GTI if theres any left had one a long time ago and it went like a scolded cat FD Ventora - but I think again if theres any left they would push the 2 grand limit  My old Venny  |

I'd actually struggle with this, I'm yet to pay even as much as £1000 for a car. Here's a few I'd be tempted by... Citroen BX 1.9 diesel non-turbo estate. Shouldn't be rotten, should be under 100K miles for that money.  Triumph Mayflower. Should get a tidy, if cosmetically tired, example for this cash. Would spend any change on an Actual Size sticker.  Austin Allegro estate. I could probably manage to get a solid one in an appalling colour with cash left over.  Austin A40 Farina. These can be got in good, solid condition for as little as £1,500, £2,000 should net a really good one needing little more than regular polishing.  |

No 1 choice would be a 505 estate. Probably have to travel to Africa to find one these days though.   No 2 would be an 18 estate. still sticks that I sold my GTX for £150 ten years ago..  |
