Ok I have acquired or rather saved a rover p5 saloon from the fate of the banger racers. looked at it and its far too good to be raced and smashed round a track. still mot'd and taxed till jan or feb next year. was running but the fuel lines have been removed. its an automatic which apparently has overdrive , or so I'm told. Needs a bit of tlc to bring it up to its former glory. was going to get it road ready but with my firenza taking up space and time I have no time for it. Would be a shame to see it raced. the car is at my dads house in Worcester as it came from up north and would have cost me too much money to get it to Bristol so left it with him. I'm looking for offers around £1300 for it but open to sensible offers or swaps for something interesting.

This is amazing!
If I didn't have the Daimler I'd be having this in a heartbeat. Lovely motor and a great price too! I'm sure you won't need any luck with selling this.

Is it a P5 converted to a V8? Or have the wings been replaced with P5 ones?

Is it a P5 converted to a V8? Or have the wings been replaced with P5 ones? what? After a quick dig around it appears the V8 had front foglights under the headlights, as this one doesn't it leads that the wings (or the rest of the car) were originally on a P5? Seems a P5B is the V8, course, I'm open to be corrected.........

67 was the first year of the P5b so technically it could be either, however the only thing that is 6 cylinder on that car is the front wings and as they are bolt on I'd put good money on it being an original V8, the earlier V8's were better cars than the later ones (I know, I own two later ones..) they were slightly better built and less rust prone due to a switch in steel suppliers, the front wings rotted as well as the rest of the car so this has almost certainly had a pair of 6cyl wing popped on it at some point... Other 'P5b' bits like the wheels grill and bumpers are all correct
In 68/69 they moved the ignition switch to the steering column so this is definitely an earlier V8 car it also has the earlier V8 grill badge (not I6) though it looks a bit odd to me in the pictures, so that would rule out swapping the front after a shunt...
Good luck with the sale, seems cheap but then these cars never make the money they should..

If this wasnt 2 hours away, and i had some dosh, i'd be all over this!
Absolute bargain of the century.
I'd even go as far as to swap my dolly for it, but its not finished yet...
