I was there at the awards, and yes shelsley is where it's gonna be.... That's one heck of a hill, might have to run that differently to Prescott You're not wrong there. I used to go a lot back in the 1980's, Shelsley's incredibly fast but a very unforgiving mistress if you get it wrong...... My concerns in a nutshell......

Great clips but not what I'm worried about - most of those clips are in the slowest part of the course apart from the start line......
I more worried about the "half way up the hil" kink, the approach to the slowest part featured in the clips and the last straight oh and the end!!!!
Quick car up the hill gives a good idea of just how narrow the hill track is as well as the height of the banks and the lack of run off and the alternative to the hard banks
Just saying Prescott was a lovely track plenty of corners and lots of relatively safe run off areas or gravel traps - Shelsley well that's a whole different animal and we have to make it fun, challenging and safe..... Just saying

Ooh! Never been there! Looks lovely, will just have to take it steady (was pretty easy to do that last year as I couldn't do any other without oil and water!) So the 31st, and presumably the whole weekend there like last times? ;D

So rescuedude was right. However at the time of his prediction we were still in negotiation with two venues. Hopefully his concerns will be unfounded, but we shall see. Always an adventure running a show and this year more than ever. The hill is pretty unforgiving so I'm hoping people will give it the respect it deserves.

Somewhere I have a picture of a ally bodied Sebring Sprite on it's roof/side after overcooking the last corner at Shelsley. Dumped enough oil to cause a 2 hour hiatus for the rest of us and Sprite owner was not too pleased with his repair bill either. May I suggest 'sleeping policemen' all the way up

150 miles for me at 10mpg and 40mph I suppose the alternative is to leave the Goddess at home but then you'd come along with about 5mpg and 'ahem' mph.

Mr. Seth, wash your mouth out with soap & water! Leave the Goddess at home after all this time of promising to be at the Gathering with it, I think not. My next 'cunning plan' is to strap the Healey down very tight on some rollers in the bed and take a belt drive to the back axle. It should give me a little boost when necessary or more like Warp Factor 5

I wish you all a great time but as I stated earlier I won't be going..............and I live about ten miles away in case you wondered. I will say that if you intend to drive the hill it's very unforgiving and things can and will end in tears if you don't take care. I've driven the hill many, many times and it really deserves respect.

Yeah we're in full agreement on this, we are already working out ways to make sure due respect is given and everyone still gets to have a good day and go home safely. We'll happy take advice from people that know the track and hillclimbing in general Sorry you won't be there though

I wondered if it was worth marking out braking area cones like Brands Hatch do on their track/training days,.. stops inexperienced people getting over adventurous on Paddock Hill and Druids, seeing as it is easy to roll on Paddock and even easier (pre-recent rework) to bin it in the kitty litter on Druids.

Suggest it to the MAC. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to do that. No big lovely run off areas at Shelsley!!! You go off and you'll hit something. In the video I'm doing about mid to high seventies before I have to brake for the left hander at Bottom 'S'. The Pug was running not much more than standard power.

No big lovely run off areas at Shelsley!!! Indeed and it needs to be treated with respect You go off and you'll hit something. In some places that may well be after some considerable time going downwards....... Thanks for the link to the video that looked good

When I started out circuit racing, my instructor said this was one of the worse ideas he'd seen. People become focused on a cone, and not on what they are doing You then get everyone trying to brake later than the cone! I get the idea though, it looks mega narrow in the footage
