I managed to nick what I thought was an A/C pipe but turned out to be a PAS pipe on my Saab NG900 with the grinder earlier. It has, unsurprisingly dumped the fluid and is past its best anyway so a new one will be ordered as soon as Neo Bros open on 2 Jan. However, that leaves me with no wheels for a week and a half. It's not the end of the world but I can do without it. I was wondering about the possibility of sleeving the pipe with a length of high pressure fuel hose and a load of jubilee clips. However, I'm reading stories of PSI in the thousands so fuel pipe probably isn't going to cut it.
Any suggestions?

You could try a hydraulic hose company such as pirtek for repair or a made up replacement, if its metal pipe use a compression joiner, the same as used on water pipes but heavy duty, if you have nicked a flexy, you will need a hose joiner which screws into the hose. Haven't described very well so best to use yellow pages for hydraulic companies near you and take the pipe in and ask. Could try a blob of weld which can work but can block the pipe or if muck gets in, wreck something expensive. All this only applies if its the high pressure hose, if its the low pressure one any good piece of hose will do as a repair Ttfn Glenn

It's the first high pressure pipe so cowboying it will probably result in an oil slick. I think my options are a) get a new pipe ( £50 but can't get until Jan) b) get a new hose made.

It's steel but on a bend. It's not in the best nick anyway to be honest so it would probably need replacing completely before too long.

Strangely enough, I was going to email you via your website last night (without knowing it was you - small world). However, a local hydraulic hose place have stepped in and can put a new hose on my ends. You are bookmarked for future use though, cheers. The pipe in question is very prone to rotting out on Saab 900s apparently. The routing is tortuous, from the pump there's a length of rubber, then a metal pipe runs across the crossmember to a union under the battery. Then there's another hard line to a union near the rack. Then another length of rubber then a hard line to the rack itself. A common fix is to get a custom hose made and re-route it so you don't have to strip the front end off and the problem can't happen again. This makes me wish I'd bought the very nice 9-3 that was on autotrader for £150 because of a bad power steering leak on the pipe in question. This solution has the added bonus that, whilst I can't get the new hose made until January, I can put the rest of the car back together whilst I'm off work.

The whole metal part of the pipe is on its last legs so whilst patching might work today, it can only be a matter of time because the pipe doesn't look capable of holding 1500psi.

Ttfn Glenn The quote based on my description using the existing ends and crimping on a new rubber hose was £25. They might not be able to use one of those ends in which case it might be slightly more. I'm going in the morning so will report back.
