I bought this cool scooter in July 2013, after wanting one for quite a while. I traveled to Whitley Bay, Newcastle upon Tyne to collect this scooter, from a gentleman who had owned it since June 1998.
The scooter was SORN when I collected it, requiring a new front brake cable and stop light switch for the MOT. I bought a genuine Honda stop switch and a replacement brake cable to rectify the problems. Subsequently, the bike passed its MOT without any advisory notices issued.
If you are looking at this advert then you probably know a little about the scooter anyway. It was featured in the original Terminator film and the character Sarah Connor can be seen riding it in various scenes throughout the movie. To say it is 30 years old, it doesn’t feel like it when you ride it. It is speedy, smooth and ultra reliable with the electric start. Back in 1984, it must have felt years ahead. When compared to my Vespa PX125, it certainly does. The pop up light and digital dash are brilliant features.
I am very sad to be selling this lovely scooter, however, it was stolen by thieves about 2 months ago and sustained some damage, which I do not currently have the resources to fix. The scooter started first time after the theft, and I was able to ride it home from the compound that West Yorkshire Police recovered it to, and kindly charged me £170 for the trouble.
Damage as a result of the theft:
Ignition barrel
Wiring damage- the scooter was ‘hot wired’ and subsequently neither the digital dash nor the pop up headlight work. The pop up headlight motor and mechanism were very reliable before the theft so I’m certain that this is just a wiring issue.
Glove box cover torn off
Seat latch bent to gain entry to the fuel tank
Wing mirrors snapped off
I put a new battery on the scooter 2 days before the theft. I will not be including this in the sale; I will include the old one. I know this sounds tight, but the thieves will have already cost me enough money and inconvenience.
To summarize, this bike will be great for spares, or even to repair. The rare plastic paneling is in great condition despite its age.
No derisory offers as I’ve already been over a barrel thanks to West Yorkshire police and the tracksuit wearing, white lightening drinking, baseball cap wearing dregs of society who stole from me in the first place.
