Hi everyone, I have been the proud owner of this 82 Opel Monza since February 2010. Its a 1982 3.0E 'S' series 1.5 I have always loved the big Vauxhalls and Opels, this started as a child when one of our neighbours Had a 3L vauxhall senator 'A' and I just loved the look and especialy the sound of the silky smooth straight 6 engine. Far better than my fathers rattley old Avenger. As for my Monza it took about 4 years to find, I started looking for a GSE (these were my first choice) but after looking at 5 over the space of 3.5 years and none of them being in a condition that i could concider as my skills are still very much beginner but I'm learning all the time and thankfully the old girl hasn't given me to many things that I can't deal with. I found this Monza on a local classic car dealer web site about 1.5 years before I bought it, I kept looking at the web page but the original price put me off. £4995 !!! needless to say there was no way I was going to pay that, not only becouse i didn't have that kind of money to spend but at that time these cars just didn't go for that money and they still don't. With a price tag like that I was in no rush to go and view it, but as time past I kept looking at the web page and as the months passed the price slowly came down a couple of hundred pounds at a time and then it ended up on Ebay as a No reserve auction. With that I was on the phone and booking a appointment to view the car, I was a little unsure if I wanted this car as it was a earlier car than I had been looking for but I just had to go and have look. When I got there and viewed the car I found it was very very solid and mechanically excellent. I made a cheekie offer that got refused, I wasn't suprised but it was worth a try. So I went home and started bidding. And got it for a fair price but a bit more than my first offer . more pics to follow of some of the work I've done and some of the places I've taken it (Lands end. Scotland)

What a lovely car. The Senator and Monza have such road presence, especially the earlier, pre-facelift shape.
Post some more pictures, I'd like to see them!

Awesome looking car, always loved these and I've seen yours at Billing the last few years. My dad's got a pair of chrome bumpered Senator As, one is a relatively recent edition (about 4-5 years ago) and one he's owned since 1983, same colour as yours. One day I'll get the black Senator to Billing, I'd love to have a photo of that and your Monza together

I remember seeing this car at autosport, I think anyway. Very nice car, I'd love to get a rwd but I simply can't afford it as of yet. As soon as I have money I will be on at everyone with a nice rwd!!! Keep us updated on the car.

Nice to see you found this place Graham.
Monza looks great on its new wheels and a little tap with a stick will make a huge difference to the look

Then there is insurance and fuel, I'm only 19 still in education and I live 50 miles from my college. Economy comes first for now I'm afraid. It depresses me looking on here at all the nice cars. I'm going to build a rally car first thing, then get a retro car to repair as i can do all the work myself.

Indeed - focused forums are great for specific info and fault finding but they tend to be on the "concours" fringe and not so much of the variety - I'm not saying the other place is like that but it's quite common

Hi and welcome to RR. Thanks for letting us all see your stunning Monza, looks to be a real beauty. Might seem a silly question but exactly what colour is it? So what is the story with this car, owners/mileage and so on? As nice as the new wheels are, I do like it on the OE alloys - but it does need a decent set of uprated dampers and shorter springs to bring it down an inch or two. Get some more detailed pics up mate, really love this. Cheers, Richard.

Hi and welcome to RR. Might seem a silly question but exactly what colour is it?. It looks to be the same colour as my cavalier of a similar age which would make it anthracite possibly? Stunning car you have there opelnut. Would love to see more photos of it.
