Not a hoax or a dream I'm afraid. And as a huge Lancia fan, I'm actually shaking at hearing this: ranwhenparked.net/2014/01/13/fiat-to-trim-lancia-lineup-sell-brand-exclusively-in-italy/Whwn asked in the interview with with Italian newspaper La Repubblica: 'And what will become of the other brands?' "Fiat will be at the top of the mass market, with families Panda and Cinquecento, and will be released from the lower end and intermediate. Lancia will become a brand only for the Italian market, in line Y. How do you see the real challenge is to use all of the industrial network to produce the new Alfa development, launching it as Italian excellence."Now you may say' They will still be selling cars in Italy', but be honest, one model range in one country is exactly how Autobianchi ended their days before they were quietly euthanised. A sad end to a glorious marque with a history that once rivalled Alfa and Ferrari.

Sad, but hardly surprising. I very much doubt that many casual buyers even knew that the Chryslers we have here even had a link to Lancia let alone that they're a full blown product. On top of that, how many outside of Italy even know they're a company that continues to build cars? I don't know about the rest of Europe but its been twenty years since the UK was offered Lancia badged cars as new, that's a long time in the world of cars, especially in an era where we've had many other manufacturers come and go (some much more well known than Lancia ever were in this country) suddenly it becomes easy to see how they've become thought of as another long gone classic marque. About the only way I could see them surviving now is if Fiat decide to launch a sports car and badge it as a Lancia for some added prestige, however, lets face it, I've seen three legged horses with better odds than that.

If they'd made this when they penned it in 2003….. And this in 2010…. … things might be different

Lancia hasn't been Lancia in years. It would be better if the brand died off than continue to besmirch the name with awful rebadged Chryslers.

I don't think that Lancia had any official involvement in that Strosek Stratos, did they?
This is sad, but perhaps inevitable. I dream of the day when new cars are again styled with panache, where Engineers are indulged and survey groups ignored. What do we get now? Amorphous blobs in negative equity white, german diesels on tick just to stay ahead of the Joneses, trinkets for Footballers to aspire to.... ahhh, curse word to it.
/pathetic rant.

As a Lancia owner it doesn't surprise me that this has happened. And to be honest no one is going to notice as the average person doesn't have a clue what Lancia is. For me Lancia finished in the mid 90's, that was the last of the great cars.
Lets face it what they are selling now is simply re-badged chrysler curse word, which doesn't look that good and is an insult to the brand. When I first saw the adverts for the chrysler Delta I almost threw the remote through the TV in disgust.
All you need to remember is that they were once an unstoppable force in the world of rally, done so many radical things in days past and made some of the greatest cars to grace the roads. (I just wish mine was on the road now)

Gutted. I was more than happy to see that the Alfa 4C had exceeded the expectations, I never thought it'd be at the cost of such a brand.
I'm going to switch on the computer and post some images of Flaminias by Zagato and other things, it'll get me back on track.

I can only echo what has already been said in that this is a truly sad, yet completely inevitable demise!
Lancia's used to be branded in England as 'The Most Italian Car' but all they have become is 'The Most Badge Engineered Piece of Tat'...!!!
I think that when a brand ceases to be what it once was (like Saab for example) it quickly becomes overlooked by the buying public as they move onto cars that 'feel' like they're made by people that care, not people who care just about profiting from a badge with an illustrious past...
How very sad indeed.

The very mention of Chrysler fills me with doom and despair these days, I don't want to feel the same way about Lancia so maybe it is for the best. Clement has the right idea - celebrate what was rather than bemoaning what is.

I'm left wanting several batches of Appias, Aurelias, Fulvias, Flaminias, Flavias in Zagato, Touring, Pininfarina (perhaps Pinin Farina, if I want to be precise), or Vignale, and in Convertibilie, Coupé, Berlina or Giardinera flavour.
Life is terribly difficult these days, I'm telling you!

They are a bit of a funny brand these days. The sporting side of their character is overshadowed by what Fiat are doing with Alfa Romeo I guess... There doesn't really seem to be anywhere for them to go. Blame that on Fiat not doing enough with the marque; VAG has multiple overlapping brands and it doesn't seem to hold them back any. Lancia seem to have become an Italian Oldsmobile, an Italian Mercury, an Italian Plymouth, An Italian Pontiac. And we know what their fates were... God I hate being right. It is a shame but Lancia doesn't exist really, does it? Lancias always remind me of my Dad, he absolutely loved them. I remember sitting in the back of his black HF Turbo when I was a nipper. He also had a silver Gamma.
Terrible shame.
