You know those days when you just should have stayed in bed.... Driving to work this morning I went straight into the back of a Vauxhall Corsa at a roundabout in the Merc.... f***ing marvellous. I've managed to mangle one wing, the bumper, the headlight, the grille, the bonnet..... Still, you should have seen the Corsa - nice to know they have crumple zones otherwise the damage on the Benz could have been lots worse! Aren't Vauxhall kind!? Well I guess now I can get that "beater" look I always wanted - get the hammer out this weekend and the black primer ;D. NCB has gone down the shitter though I'll try and get pics.... I'm going to look at the "Wrecked Exotics" site now to make me feel better....sniff.......

;D It's my first ever accident so I guess it had to happen sooner or later.... I only replaced the wings 18mths ago - £300+ VAT from Mercedes...each.... . You can get pattern ones cheaper though. Good job Corsas are disposable as, yeah, it could have been worse! I will rebuild! Might be a good excuse to take her off the road early and stick the engine in while I'm at it - at least I won't have to worry about damaging the bodywork! ;D Still it looks hard as nails now - battle scars and all that!!

Shows how much stronger old cars are though, doesn't it? I think I've posted this on here before, but I was hit from behind while I was in a Volvo 740 saloon once, by a Rover 200 (read rebadged Honda! ), and looking in the mirrors, and seeing a smoking wreck behind us, that didn't even look like a Rover anymore, so we got out to assess the damage, expecting twisted Volvo, and saw a dented bumper, a little damage to the rear panel and numberplate, and a missing talilght lens, which shot out and broke in the impact. Oh, and the b*stard damaged the exhaust a little. The Rover had to be hauled away, obviously it was only good for scrap. The Volvo was fixed in an afternoon, with help from a (vandalised) scrap 740 from a local rear wheel drive Volvo specialist, Douglas Gray. Your Merc was going a fair bit faster I bet, since we were in a busy street when the numptie flew into us, but it shows the strength of the older saloons against these paper thin forgettable nedmobiles! Hope your Mercs easy to fix by the way, good luck. Don't forget the filler, we had to do the same thing to an Imp once after it had a brake failure and hit a wall. A hammer will get it back to shape, but I'd say for a smooth finish some Isopon P38 and P40 can't go wrong.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

Tough break, but cars are fixable and replaceable, us humans are bit more fragile.

Thanks for all the sympathy! It was my own stupid fault for assuming that she would go when the road was clear... she obviously had other ideas. She was very nice about it though (as nice as you can be....) The Corsa just folded though. All my damage is superficial... I just stuck a new headlamp lens in (I have spare ones for just such a situation!) and bent the wing back with some 2x4... lovely! Insurance won't pay for mine because I don't have fully comp. Oh, and no, unfortunately it wasn't a ned mobile. That would have been doubly good cos the guy probably wouldn't have been insured and I could have kept my NCB!

Sorry to hear that. Easy mistake to make, assuming other people around you are paying attention and using common sense! Hope the Merc goes back together ok. S

Cheers Guz! ^ Mine is much like this one (except not as pretty now ) I've found the wings are usually shagged on most of the ones I've seen, but if there's one with a decent bonnet and front bumper that would be cool!
