Just uploaded episode 5 to Flickr. There were very few retros in the old pictures but when I did the now picture for this location there just happened to be a period correct escort in the shot; Episode 5; Death call by route9autos.co.uk, on Flickr Dave.

This is amazing, a convergence of many things I love (Taggart, Glasgow, old photos, old motors). My brush with Taggart: I was driving to Glasgow to meet a guy about a job. For reasons I can't remember, I went the M9 from Edinburgh and as I got to the gasometers at Provan, a clown in a Volvo S40 with a terrible personalised number plate drifted across the while line and clipped my car. We both pulled onto the hard shoulder and, concious of the time because of the interview, I immediately called the Police and started to explain the situation. Yer man gets out of his Volvo and it's clear he's raging and shouting the odds. I mentioned this to the Policeman I was speaking to and he said "don't get in a fight at the side of the road, drive to Stewart Street nick, that's where I am". So I took off with angry Volvo man following me. I lost him on the M8 and then got myself lost trying to find Stewart Street. I knew there was an HQ at Pitt St was so I decided to head there. En route, I passed loads of Police cars and vans and a huge unmarked truck parked up on the hill outside a building just off Pitt St so I found a space and started walking back. At this point, I realised the huge truck had loads of cables coming out of it and some cameras. It had been on the news that morning that a guy who shot a Policeman had been arrested and "was being held at an undisclosed City Centre Police Station" so I thought it was to do with that. I walked up the hill, went to the door and started up the steps. There was a sign saying Strathclyde Police Maryhill Division and I remember thinking "this bit's not Maryhill". I could see two Policewomen standing inside and a bloke opened the door as I got to it. I vaguely recognised him so I said hello and he gave me a funny look and stepped back to let me in. I said thanks, started wondering how I knew the bloke and then noticed the two Policewomen were smoking and staring at me. Another bloke came running at me demanding to know what I was doing there and I said to one of the Policewomen "This isn't a Police station, is it?". She said "Naw pal, it's just Taggart". Obviously, I eff'd off down the road sharpish but everyone outside must've been watching via the monitors so they were all pishing themselves laughing. One guy told me he had given the actor the signal to come out of the door when he saw me coming up the hill because a normal person walking on the street is sometimes better than an extra but he couldn't believe it when I stopped walking and went up the stairs. generally01: They were shooting one of the episodes in series 20, they were using a building on West Regent St at the corner with Pitt St. I've seen it on TV and my brief inclusion/incursion did not make the final cut.

Cheers Battles, Was it a sandstone building you walked into? I think they used a building on Holland street for a while which is one over from Pitt street.
Did you get your car fixed?
Dave.

It was a very anonymous looking glass fronted building. It's still there, according to Google Streetview.
The car I was driving was a 120k Ford Ka, the graze to the bumper and wing were the least of it's troubles so I just took a payout from the insurance company and kept on running it into the ground.
