Bortaf, if you get another V6 in with issues can you give me a yell if its just going to get fragged? Would like one to play about with to see what can be made to fit up to what, obviously will pay better than the weight. Off out to put some holes into the stat of my other halfs now, have always thought it runs a bit on the warm side although it shows perfect on the gauge..... Cheers

nothing wrong with the duratec V6 itself. The problem occurs not so much with the plastic WP failing, (that was on very early ones with black plastic impeller, white ones are fine) but a stupid brass restrictor disc inside WP comes loose and chews through the alloy housing, loosing all your water...remove disc, problem solved.

Cheers Will do but TBH i get more diesel mondys in now with failed injectors and or belt snaps, i havn't seen a V6 mondy in well over a year (fragged the last one for the customer back in nov 2012) i usually give them what the frag yard quotes then break them over a few months to make up for not getting the repair job LoL I allways thought there was a gap in the market for a modern "savage" a 2.5 mondeo with a jag 3.0 in it, just never had the time to pursue it further

Maybe my post was a bit short on why the duratec isn't the best choice I'll agree with that post. Without a careful eye, the Duratec V6 can be a mongrel of an engine. I figured I would slip that post in since people always seem to say; Duratec, what a rubbish engine, when between 2 engines I have done near 500ks worth of mileage . I guess it is not helped when I have another car (or two/three depending on who you talk to) which are meant to be 'fit for a doorstop' or whatever people say. I shall agree however that for RWD applications there are far better engines out there with better spares availability etc. .
