If it was a collapsed air inlet it would be black smoking though wouldn't it? Did you set the valve clearances? Is it possible it could be a problem with the box rather than a lack of power from the engine?

As its a Land Rover, any symptoms and causes are possible. When the boxes go, normally you just lose drive. I guess checking the kickdown linkage would be a good idea.

Its kicks down fine and changes through all the gears. Its not that the box is in the wrong gear theres no power. Top intercooler hose is new and pressurises when you rev her up. Without load it will rev freely and on the flat or kicked down from speed it will rev all the way up to the governor at 4500rpm.

Running pump diesel normally Shell i've never put supermarket fuel in it as the nearest one with a petrol station is about 25 miles and at the moment I don't dare drive it that far. I'm starting to wonder if the new lift pump isn't working and its just running on the injection pump, it wouldn't suprise me i've had plenty of new parts fail within days.

Not impossible is it! Is the pump operating arm the correct side of the cam?

I've been assuming it to be ok because it's new and pumps fuel using the priming lever Sent from my V370 using proboards

i had a 300tdi with the exact same problems, lack of power was down to a cheap airfilter. just wouldnt let enough air through when under heavy load. the bad starting was resolved by putting a new alternator on! i had already changed glow plugs/starter motor/fuel pump/fuel filters with no joy!!!!!!

Possible dead MAF Unplug the wiring to the MAF, and short out the outer pins (1+5) with a paperclip. If it brings it back to life, the MAF's dead two solutions: 1) buy a new MAF, at a silly cost (and it'll still die a few years on) 2) leave the paperclip in - and enjoy a bit more power to boot

Not the EGR already been blanked to rule it out. Haven't had a chance to look at it much recently and for the time being ive just parked it up and am using the "spares" car.
