Ok, well I'm not a Ford person but decided to fit a 1600 Xflow into my '68 Minor and now I'm regretting it. The problem I've come up against now is the prop. I've got a 4 speed type 3 box? and a Mk2 Escort English axle and I'm having trouble getting a prop to fit. I bought what I thought was the right prop and it fitted the gearbox fine so I shortened it, got it balanced but didn't think to check to axle flange fitment...and guess what, the flange on the prop is way wrong (too small and the holes are no where near to lining up. So my question is what prop do I need or can I just buy the axle flange bit and a new UJ?
Cheers guys

I'm not trying to sound clever, but have you checked the bolt holes don't line up at different orientations to each other? As the propshaft flange and axle input flange are a rectangular shape PCD instead of square PCD :/

As the propshaft flange and axle input flange are a rectangular shape PCD instead of square PCD :/ Hmmm, I didn't know that the PCD wasn't square so that may help. The worry was that the flange on the end of the prop is smaller than the axle flange (by a good 10mm) so on eyeing it up it looked way off. Hopefully when I rotate the prop the holes will line up, but I'm not holding my breath. If that doesn't work......?

yes you can change the uj at the axle end thus allowing you to change the flange end

Cheers Dave, are there many different prop flange sizes on early Fords? I'm pretty sure I've got a MK2 Cortina prop and an Escort English axle so should they mate correctly?

Ford used three flange sizes,
86mm which is the standard Anglia size and crops up on MkI Cortinas and MkI Escorts.
92mm which was common on 3.77 diffs so Mexicos, some MkII Cortinas and Corsairs.
109mm which is common on Escorts
You need to measure the diff flange and get a prop flange the same size if you can.

Great cheers for that. Any recommendations of suppliers for prop flanges (I know loads of Morris guys but not had any dealings with Ford suppliers). Cheers
