Hi guys,
I have a k10 micra 1 litre 4 speed. I noticed that it started running a bit warm about two weeks ago around the same time I noticed what feels like a bit of a missfire at low revs. The car is now not blowing warm air inside and this has only been within the past couple of days. Has anyone experienced this or know what may be causing this.
Cheers Tom

Check that the cooling system is full, and get the points checked by a garage that knows what they're doing with such old tech; ideally a classic car specialist.
EDIT; could also be a head gasket - With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap and then replace it. Run the engine for 15-30 seconds (but no more) turn it off, and remove the radiator cap again. If there's a hiss of escaping air when you open it the second time, after running the engine, it indicates a blown HG.

Probably the above but if it's running lean then it would get a bit hotter and wouldn't run as well. Check the filters etc, a bit of redex won't go amiss either.

Thanks guys. Ok so today i have noticed that there is still zero warm air inside the car. It sits a 0 temperature for a while then moves up towards the top of the guage. Did the radiator cap test but could not hear any air coming out and now i have white smoke from the exhaust and it smells hot!

Sounds like the gasket for sure I'm afraid. Not to worry, it's a pretty easy job on the MA10. If you don't have the Haynes I can scan the relevant pages for you. It's probably worth getting the head skimmed or at least checked as it's ally.

Is it also loosing coolant? Mine was running hot in traffic and would loose coolant till jrevillug subtly pointed out that I hadn't properly tightened the radiator cap. So it would 'curse word' out the coolant under pressure. Mind you, mine didn't misfire and the heater was working fine.

You can get a belt and head gasket kit for a K10 for under 10 pounds on ebay!
It couldn't be easier to change the HG yourself.
