So with a clean tank, fresh fuel and the engine given a clean, it all went back together last night and started and ran like a dream.
Connected my headlight and the blasted thing decided it didn't want to work. Need to check over my wiring. However in the mind of simplicity, would I just be able to find the 6v feed coming of the stator and run it to one side of the bulb and ground the other? Hard wiring the lights like forde mentioned and doing away with a load of loom?
Would it just be a case of putting a mulitmeter on each wire from the stator and grounding it to find the right source... I'm not the best at electrickery.

Finally tracked down a camino wiring loom diagram instead of a hobbit one (wiring is different colours which is very annoying) Seems I need to run the red wire to the bulb, then earth on the blue and run the brown to the rear light. Easy as that... it will still take me all night at a guess.

So have you worked out what it actually is yet then? The camino wiring diagram isn't going to help much if it is a Yamaha...Lighting wire output from the magneto is sometimes the yellow wire (if you have one)

Its a camino hands down that some muppet has stuck a yamaha cover on and changed the name in the tax book at a guess... engine has PA50II stamped all over it. Generally it is a yellow wire, but thats the problem, thats from the american point of view, euro version use different coloured wiring so in this case its actually the Red wire. Aye seems that way Forde, gets rid of a load of wiring too that I can tuck away nice and neat, 3 wires, one from the gen, one for the earth, one for the rear light which earths on the frame. Will get a stab at it tonight...what bulb do you run in your puch lights Forde?

I reckon at some point in its life it had some ancillary parts replaced with yamaha ones as original were damaged. then as it was lying up it wasnt taxed or sorned for ages and dropped off the system at the dva. then someone decided to register it again and saw yamaha on some of the bits and regged it as a yamaha moped with the dva. you can get it corrected with the dva.
what model of yamaha is it regged as?

Aye I bet thats what has happened too... According to the DVA its registered as a Yamaha Moped. No model assigned... though my Aprilla is the same, its just an Aprilia Moped lol Useful. I will just be running a dip bulb, no full beam but the bulb holder is for a bulb with two contacts on the bottom... I could stick a single filament bulb in and bend the contact to suit. Just a wee 6v 15w jobbie?

yeah I am using the 15w single filament with two contacts on the bottom and the contacts you just bend to touch it. I would use the relevant section of the tax book to get the mistakes fixed. some of the lights take a bulb with a collar on it yours might just take the normal bulb tho.

Good job, never got near it tonight but I'll try a normal bulb and see what I can do, doesn't need one with a collar so should be east enough. Yea once I get a tax book I'll apply to have it corrected and a color change if I decide to keep the blue... Else I'll maybe put it back to red... Unless someone can suggest an even better colour?

you can have the tax book as 'multi coloured'
I do that on yokes I colour change often
original/period colours usually look best, or else something real bright like lime green or yellow or orange, or dark colour like gunmetal frame with bright wheels

Wee video of the Camino after its tune up, fresh plug with the right specs, air filter foam replaced, points gap set up, took a while to get the idle sorted out after putting fresh fuel in it... mixed up 25:1 but I think its maybe a bit oily as folk over on mopedarmy say I can get away with 50:1...

don't you just hate it when you go to the garage for five minutes and the fuel tank accidently falls of your moped and the shocks too and then by mistake everything gets covered in red paint... white will be done with some vinyl I have sitting around and the top and bottom will be repainted in black.

Just back from holidays, so have not been tinkering much, new tyres fitted this morning need to get the wheels back on again, last of the writing sorted and wait for the tax book to come back. Got the tank painted, plastics are next.
Anyone had any problems with putting lowered bars on for there mot... Not sure if to leave the standard one on for now or just change them and be done...?

So finally an update worth posting. Nearly all painted, transmission cover needs another going over, engine is running well maybe a bit rich but I think that was my fault mixing at 25:1 instead of 50:1, lights are hardwired and working, tax book has arrived so just need to get a plate printed and my new brake cables are in the post. Then its MOT time.

aye its not bad, if it would run right, one minute its running great the next its not, ended up with no spark last night just after I booked it in for an MOT next week. checked and clean my points, but no spark, so ordered up a new coil and bits, it will rule it out and a carb clean again just to be sure that it will run when it finally gets going. New cables are in the post as I type lol.
