Ok, the coupe needs to go (as hinted at in my progress thread) to fund the S124's return to the road. I'm away from 24th April to 12th May, so until then it'll only be advertised here, and then released onto eBay afterwards.
The car:
1994 C124 E220, MoT until Dec 2014, Tax expires 30/11/14.
It's painted in 348 Ice Blue (Perlblau), with cream leather interior and black dash top. The steels aren't original to the car, unfortunately it did not come with its original alloys (would almost certainly be 6.5x15 8-holes). It has the M111 2.2 engine mated to the usual 4-sp auto, performance is certainly adequate for a cruiser like this. Mileage is 215,000 (will go up slightly as it's my everyday car).
In late 2013 this car was subjected to a major restoration underneath, with the rear subframe removed, rebuilt using mostly genuine MB parts (except KYB dampers), brand new exhaust system, all the rot cut out and sorted (including fabricating a couple of new subframe mounts), and undersealed all round.
A few pictures of the work:
The bill for the work totals nearly £5,000, including parts which were genuine where possible.
The ABS pump was also replaced with a good secondhand unit.
Engine bay:
Nothing much to report here, apart from it could really do with the cosmetics sorting. Runs well, replacement OVP relay fitted. Idle can be slightly unsteady (occasionally it'll vary between around 750-1000rpm) but otherwise no problem.
Interior:
Cream leather with black dash top and wood trim. Original Pioneer Tape/Radio fitted, in matching wood trim - even the remote is in wood trim!
Seats are showing signs of the leather cracking, however there are no holes. Armrest piping has broken in places. Drivers seatbelt butler has failed, passenger side works.
Exterior:
A couple of owners ago the car suffered a serious key attack, damaging both rear wings, the bootlid and the bonnet. The passenger door is also dented.
This is the main issue with the car, and requires at least a partial respray to bring it up to an acceptable standard. Otherwise the exterior is good, aside from the drivers door mirror being painted a different shade of blue. The wheel trims are a little shabby, but certainly better than none at all.
I'll post a load more pictures once I clean it this weekend, at present the local skyrats have been using it for target practice
Price:
Given the recent work this has had done making the underside as good as new, I think £1295 is a good reflection on the work already done and the cosmetic work still required. Grotty rusty examples seem to make around £7-900 on eBay, and minters can be £3/4k+. If you can live with the scratches this would make a great rolling resto. For an extra £100 a set of nearly new Continental Winter tyres on steels are available.
I am open to offers (or even a p/x with cash my way!), any questions please feel free to ask.
Either contact me here or ring me on 07838 119 115.
Cheers,
Scott
