Hello everyone, My names Luke and I'm based in the darkest depths of Lincolnshire at RAF Coningsby, thought I'd start a thread on here showing the last 6 months of my project. I bought the car as a bit of a barn find, it has been off the road for 30 years, spending only 8 on the road. The outriggers were pretty rotten and the engine wouldn't start despite turning so at this point I went down the full body off restoration. Here's the damage - I spent a few weeks stripping it bare, replacing hue he outriggers and finally took it to be shot blasted, acid dipped and galvanized. Before- After- Much money has been spent cleaning & painting all the suspension, fitting poly bushes and fully adjustable Gaz shocks Bought these second hand...couldn't resist... And rebuilding to a stage to put the shell back on.... And here is how it sits currently - The plan is to turn her into a wide JDM arches road/track car. Here is a little sneak peek into my plans - There's lots more to do, but with all this being less than 6 months work, it should happen relatively quickly. Hope you've all enjoyed so far! Luke

Looks good mate! I'll be dragging mine down from Lossie to Marham in a month or so to take the body off and finally get cracking nice motor club at Coningsby too!

Nice one! These photos are all in the motor club at Marham, it's good. Better than the one at Coningsby anyway!

Lovely work on the chassis and your plans sound great! Can I ask where you sourced your wide-arches from? They look a little more subtle than others I've seen. Ta.

Crazy how some people store cars for so long and do nothing with them. Amazing find and seriously liking your plans. Never really looked at Scimitars with much interest...until now. What did you have to do to get the engine up and running?

Thanks for the comments guys! The arches are an eBay special, so sorry, couldn't tell you where they were manufactured. And scimitars are very underrated!!! The owners forum is fantastic and the car is a joy to work on. The engine is as basic as they come, 3.0L V6 essex, set of new head gaskets and the heads got vapour blasted, carbs cleaned and rebuilt. It's just going to make do for now until I start building the track engine

Apparently the work on that one is being done by a complete fool though...

Faaaaaar too long! Don't think I've even touched it in two plus years... Unfortunately 4x deployments to Afghanistan and buying/selling/buying another house happened... Should be finished in Afghanistan after this next time, then I'll have a lovely big double garage in which to work

This looks like a very interesting project, and I hear that Coningsby is getting a new, rather larger toy soon too !
