Brentacre gave me the discount, but now my friend has tried to get the same discount and is being refused. At first, they wanted a membership number. Then they wouldn't apply it because his quote was apparently already saved and they can't amend it. John at Brentacre is totally useless and unhelpful, garry is great. BS this is, sort it out. They are finding every excuse not to apply the discount. Interesting, I got told my premium was already low enough and a discount wouldn't help...... I kind of failed to see the logic, but thought it might just be me, but I'll drop them a message and find out what's up. Anyone else been refused discount?

Just given them a try and well..... not impressed at all. Got a load of rubbish about a RWD car doesn't drive the same as a FWD car which is why insuring a Old 94 BMW 525d touring is over TWICE was i pay for a 2006 2.0tdi Seat Leon. I had a value of the car at £600 with a limited mileage of 2000 miles. and i was quoted £490. I pay £250 fully comp on my Leon with 10'000 miles per year. I'm 30 years old, no points, no accidents and full no claims on my other car. Mentioned Retrorides and no discount was given. waste of time no to be rude, but various companies have told me they don't want to cover 'that sort' of car. i wanted to insure a BMW, and i found it quite difficult/expensive. i shortlisted 6 companies, two said on their website they don't cover BMWs of any sort when i went to obtain phone numbers, two more refused on the phone. brentacre was one of only two who would offer cover, but they quite freely admit they are only interested in covering high value, low risk cars, and BMWs are not see as low risk by ANY insurance company. I'm pretty amazed you found cover for that little tbh. who was that with? Brentacre gave me the discount, but now my friend has tried to get the same discount and is being refused. At first, they wanted a membership number. Then they wouldn't apply it because his quote was apparently already saved and they can't amend it. John at Brentacre is totally useless and unhelpful, garry is great. BS this is, sort it out. They are finding every excuse not to apply the discount. TBF, ive never actually asked for it, the prices have been so low. it would have netted me a whopping £12 off my last policy with them!

Odd ... I've just noticed that somebody here got business use no problem a while ago. When I asked about including business I got told they couldn't come close to getting a competitive quote for me. No problems with business use (although its not on a classic policy because of this). I didn't get a quote but was told they couldn't come close to matching my existing insurer as I have business use on the policy.

Good things can't last forever I guess. It would only take a new policy maker/business strategist joining the company and saying there isn't enough business in specialised cars and/or risks are too high to build books on it and they would then actively seek to discourage that kind of business. It would be useful to get some word from them regarding their intentions towards retro/classic/modified and retrorides members though. I was hoping to try them when my policy comes up later this autumn. I wonder if RR can find a new insurance partner if Brentacre are no longer looking for this kind of business.

Cancelling one of my policies with brentacre this week Refused to quote me on a three speed automatic jaguar XJ6, telling me It was a high powered rear wheel drive performance car and that I needed prior experience. Not sure how I'm meant to gain prior experience, if you wont let me gain it on anything. Called Adrian flux and they have provided me with a quote that is half what the policy with brentacre is, regardless of no claims discount. based on age, and very tolerant to modifications, with a very reasonable limited mileage. I won't be renewing at the start of next year, the person I seem to keep getting stuck with is miserable and mumbles into his microphone.
Customer service has gone down hill. Disappointed, as I've been a loyal customer for three years, and I've always recommended them for tat exact reason.

It's that time of year again for me. Did you make any progress Hotwire? Is this still active? On the phone to them right now actually, they called while writing this...

Tell me how you get on... I kind of dropped it... Insurance tie ins are a bit fraught, but Brentacre have/had a good reputation. More recently I've seen an up tick in complains/gripes, coupled with them not upholding their side, I figured I'd ding it.
I'm still insured with them though as for me they worked great. YMMV. Good luck.

I'm insured with them again now on my Volvo, as my classic policy with flux wouldn't allow for it to be swapped to the Volvo from the jag. They refused to give any retrorides discount, but the price was fair.
